A little too hoppy for my liking, but a northwest beer it is. Don’t miss the brewery in McMinnville, Oregon. AleDrinker (1090), Sunnyvale, California, USA

Cheese like aroma with maybe some berries. Foamy towards the back of the tongue, flavors of hops, dairy presence, floral malt and an earthy sweet tone. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Aug 30, 2007 Deep amber body iwth a small creamy white head. Nice hoppy gently barrel-esque nose with some malty character. Flavor is decently floral and semi-sweet, but finish is watery and a bit disappointing. Pretty easy drinking brew. bhensonb (4384), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jun 7, 2007 Bottle. Strong malt odor, deeper than caramel, backed by some hop. Malt confuses the hop aspect, so maybe this will be really malty. Slightly hazy amber color (maybe a slight red tinge) with a frothy off-white head that does a bit of lacing. Thinnish body. A bit of carbonation bite. The malt and hop tend to come together, I’d say the primary hop characteristic is citrus. [so it wasn’t super malty] The finish is nicely balanced, but as the malt sugars finally leave, the lasting impression is desireably bitter. I say this one is being underrated. But that’s just me. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 10, 2007 12 oz. bottle from Fred Meyer in Newberg, OR. Pours deep reddish-mahogany color with a moderate sized, somewhat foamy beige head. Aroma is almost all malts, toasty, toffee, molasses and earth, with mild fresh herb notes. Flavor is rich and bitter sweet, some bitterness from the roast malts, as well as herbal bitterness from the generous hop additions, more earthiness, ripe fruit notes, and a toasty finish. Medium to medium-full body and gently prickly carbonation. A nice change of pace in terms of Northwest brews and as I see muenster has pointed out, potentially a nice session beer. muenster (341), Sevierville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 5, 2007 Hmm, so I gotthis to have an ale rating, now it’s changed to Irish Ale, and the ale category is being eliminated. Such is life. Anyway, pours amber with a foamy beige head. Aroma is quite hoppy, not what I expected. Flavor is hops upfront, in nice form, as well as a a caramel backbone that is just a touch too thin. Overall, better than I expected, and in my estimate, would make a wonderful session beer.
