Commercial Description:
This Celtic Ale has been the flagship beer for GoldenValley Brewery since 1993. The Hops added to the kettle are Chinook, Liberty, Willamette, and Tettnag with Fuggles used in the steep for aromatics. The use of imported Crystal, Carastan, Roast, and Chocolate malts as well as domestic Two-Row malt creates a complex and bold profile which balances and enhances the aggressive hopping.

Deep Red color, small head. A light bodied red ale. Lightly caramelized malts. Mild yet spicy hops. Good flavor. Smooth taste. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is malty with a very slight bitterness

Draft at the brewpub. A hazy amber beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet malty with light notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet and very malty, but also with notes of berries, leading to a dry bitter finish. Nice.

Its not the Quercus, this beer gains most of its tastiness from the oak barrel. Still though a pretty red ale with just that right hint of toasted barley.

12 oz. bottle from Fred Meyer in Newberg, OR. Pours deep reddish-mahogany color with a moderate sized, somewhat foamy beige head. Aroma is almost all malts, toasty, toffee, molasses and earth, with mild fresh herb notes. Flavor is rich and bitter sweet, some bitterness from the roast malts, as well as herbal bitterness from the generous hop additions, more earthiness, ripe fruit notes, and a toasty finish. Medium to medium-full body and gently prickly carbonation. A nice change of pace in terms of Northwest brews and as I see muenster has pointed out, potentially a nice session beer.

Bottle... Poured a hazy reddish-orange with a thin head. Cheese like aroma with maybe some berries. Foamy towards the back of the tongue, flavors of hops, dairy presence, floral malt and an earthy sweet tone.

It’s one-beer-beer. Great Brewery, good beer. Beautiful pour. A little too hoppy for my liking, but a northwest beer it is. Don’t miss the brewery in McMinnville, Oregon.

Deep amber color, lots of creamy white head, sticky lacing. Hoppy notes, lightly medicinal & malty with some diactyl thrown in. The flavor is somewhat astringent & dry but still balances the flavors well. Finishes medium bodied. Overall not bad. I had this out of a bottle at the brewpub as opposed to draught because they were out of it.
