stchloe (473), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 27, 2008 My new favorite red ale. There is a wonderful hint of Pinot Oak from the barrel aging. A near perfect combination of bitter, wood, and sweetness. Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA Aug 30, 2007 Poured a rich amber color with a medium sized creamy off-white head. Creamy, oaky character with a nice rounded and lightly bitter/sour finish. One of the most interesting beers from the OBF brewers’ dinner. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA Aug 12, 2007 On tap at the OBF 2007. Wild beer, the pinot barrel gives a soft oaked flavor, lots of fruitiness. Subtle pinot flavors show in the finish. Very big earthy tones to the malts. thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Aug 5, 2007 This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized off-white colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a semi-hazy light brown colored body. The aroma was malty and Irish Red malty. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of hops oak and Irish red malt. A decent one but not one that I would consider buying again. SamuraiArtist (292), portland, Oregon, USA Jul 29, 2007 Draft at OBF’07: Pours a hazy red/brown. Aroma of carmel malts and dark fruits and herbal hops. Flavor is malty and very fruity, nice red wine like flavors, oaky vanilla tannins, underlying hop and woody bitterness. Smooth earthy hop flavors. Complex.
