hopdog (4648), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 9, 2008 12oz bottle. Poured a medium copperish / amber color with a smaller sized off white head. Lots of suspended floaters. Aromas of caramel, toasted malts, nutty, and some dark fruits. Tastes of caramel, dark fruits, and toffee. Alcohol content well hidden. Ungstrup (11378), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 25, 2008 Draft. A hazy amber beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet and very malty, which gives it notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet with quite a lot of alcohol and malt as well as a touch of whiskey. fly (1247), austin, Tejas, USA Jan 3, 2008 I dig the name, it’s purty and fulfills what the label promises - "massive malt complexity". The malt does lean to the sweet side asis its nature, but being a holiday brew I’m pleased that spices were not added but were some appropriate hops to be added I would enjoy this even more and possibly even consider to be awesome. Good brew as it is. ratman197 (2358), Arvada, Colorado, USA Jan 2, 2008 Bottle poured a clear dark copper with a minimal lingering amber head. Aromas of cocoa, carmel, toasted malt, dark fruit, light smoke and light spice. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavors of carmel, cocoa, dates, spice and a hint of smoke with a smooth malty finish. Angeloregon (2002), Portland, Oregon, USA Dec 17, 2007 Poured a hazy deep amber body with a small whitish head. No matter the time of year, you can likely find a few bottles of the GVB Tannen Bomb kicking around at a NW specialty brew store. TB is a dark, robust, yet creamy strong ale with firm hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and other winter spices. Sweet with fruitiness. This beer is a PNW classic.
