bikesandbeers (468), Los Angeles, California, USA Feb 4, 2009 Bomber with a purple label. I bought with WeeHeavySd. bought in Shasta in January 2008, shared with him and Dalekliz orange pour with medium tan head, mild resin in the nosy, sweetish flavor with fruity hoppys and a clean bitter finsih. Not bad. dalekliz (546), San Diego, California, USA Aug 29, 2008 Bottle, thanks to Bikesandbeer for sharing. Pours a clear red-amber with a white ring. Big malt/hops aroma, with sweet dark fruits and molasses notes. Taste is very malty and toasty, with dark fruits, molasses, and bitter hops. Lingering bitter toastyness. A bit different and tasty. WeeHeavySD (2932), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Jul 30, 2008 Bomber with a purple label. Bikesandbeer bought in shasta in January, shared with him and Dalekliz and my gf cyn. Dark orange pour with a 1 finger tan head. Nose is resiny and sweet with muted hops. Taste is sweet and resinny with some fruitty floral hops. Pretty nice beer. Not amazing but certainly good. DTM (541), Winters, California, USA Jun 18, 2008 Bottle from the Liqour Barn in Redding, CA. Poured an amber and smelled of floral and citrus hops. This was the perfect amount of hops for an IPA. I was pleasantly surprised with the smoothness of this beer. Like others have said the malty backbone is an excellent attribute of this beer. Hopefully I’ll have a chance to try this one again. timfoolery (482), California, USA Jun 18, 2008 Bottle from Liquor Barn in Redding, CA. (Didn’t know this one was Butte Creek...) This brew wasn’t as hoppy as most Imperial IPAs, but it made up for it in the flavor department. The hops were complex, as the flavors were of citrus fruits and flowers. Excellent palate and unlimited drinkability! beerguy101 (3861), Newark, California, USA Jun 15, 2008 This Imperial IPA pours a medium amber color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel malts and grapefruity hops. A medium bodied Imperial IPA. The malts are caramel, fruity and sweet. Lots of slightly roasted malt flavor. The hops are grapefruity and piney. A decent balance between the malts, hops and alcohol. Good carbonation.
Butte Creek Big beers are usually Train Wrecks, this one is very good, a nice balance of flavors. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is crisp and clean. The aftertaste is bitter with a touch of alcohol.
riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA May 15, 2008 Pours a nice amber color with a fluffy lasting head. Aroma of floral hops, pepper, and some caramel malts. The flavor had notes of floral and citrus hops with some toasted caramel malt backbone. Not overly sweet, but not overly hoppy either. It finishes with a little bit of alcohol. marcus (1821), Sacramento, California, USA Apr 25, 2008 This amber ale poured with a decent off-white head that didn’t last long, and a nice hop aroma. The flavor is dominated by hops and there is a short and sweet malt finish. This is great brew for hopheads.
