| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 9, 2009 Had on tap in Birmingham. Aroma has a hint of alcohol and so does the flavor. Otherwise the flavor is mostly sweet including citrus hops and some malt backing. MmmcKay (283), Brentwood, Tennessee, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 4, 2009 Sampled at the 8th Annual Music City Brewer’s Festival. Orange brown with a touch of red. Explosive brew. This guy threw my palette for a loop. I was officially done tasting for awhile after sampling. I don’t think it quite warrants the high marks that my TN cohorts gave it. However, its a quality Imp IPA that you should seek out to try. It was a little overwhelming and unbalanced for me. illinismitty (1797), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jul 26, 2009 Sampled at the MCBF. Pours amber with a retentive light beige head. Aroma of sugary malts and piney hops. Medium bodied with a carbonation a hair short of average, which was perfect for this beer. Flavor of toffee and dark honey countered by a tamed piney bitterness. Grapefruit rind and hop resin on the finish. This was pretty darn good. Butters (1652), Virginia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 25, 2009 Sampled on draft at the Music City Brewers Festival. Excellent golden amber pour with wispy light tan head. Wonderful bouquet of hop pine aromas and sweet honey flaqovrs. Very well balanced. Reminds me of old hopslam without as much honey. Very good double ipa. riversideAK (2733), Shoreline, Washington, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 7, 2009 Milk jug from jzzbassman. Thanks! Aroma of caramel sweetness, some sugars, a touch of light butter maybe and some floral, pine, and peppery hops. Pours dark amber with some thin bubbles for a second. Flavors initially of caramel and a hefty does of malty sweetness, a hint of butter and then a decent hop dose that rounds out the finish in the form of floral and pepper hops with a hint of pine. Some lingering bitterness for a second as well as a hint of alcohol. Carbonation was more or less lost due to the milk jug, but it did have a little bubbles. Full with some lingering sweetness as well. bitbucket (2034), Kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 5, 2009 Milk jug courtesy of jzzbassman. Pours cloudy dark copper with no head, no carbonation due to shortcomings of the jug. Caramel and butter aroma. A little bit of butter in the taste as well, but the sweet caramel and the hops power their way through it and deliver a resinous, citrus and earthy finish. I’m betting that later versions will benefit from a diacetly rest that this beer didn’t get because the brewer "was asked to have a DIPA (in spite of not having enough time)" Cletus (5057), Connecticut, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 2, 2009 Milk jug courtesy of jzzbassman. Pours a mahogany/brown with a thin but prominent tan head. Smells of caramel, resin, pine, peppery. Tastes earthy, sweet and bitter with some resiny splashes on the finish. I’d like more hops in this one, but an enjoyable drink. The first of what I hope will be many big beers to come out of Alabama. Congrats on the new legislation!
