A subtle nutty, fruity, malty aroma that’s pleasing but not overpowering. Very smooth and easy to drink... the cask matches up with this one perfectly. Flavor is bitter, spicy, a little fruit sweetness. Best ESB I’ve had to date. Delicious Zeswaft (1000), Seattle, Washington, USA

Probably the best of the goose island beers that i sampeled. There is a strong hop presence that was refreshing. Cornfield (4948), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA

It’s got a nutty malt aroma with some apples and pears thrown in, along with a dash of herbal hop bitterness. It’s smooth in the mouth, tasting pretty much as it smells, the difference being that the hops wait for the finish to arrive. Not bad.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 6, 2005 Cask. Clear amber body with a thick, fluffy eggshell (and slightly pink? Or is that the light?) head. Wonderfully crafted aromas of subtle, noble hops and sweet toffee, whole grains, caramel, light pine and a touch of soft fruit esters (peach, apricot and maybe even a bit of berry). The body is luxuriously smooth and creamy in the traditional, Goose Island cask style. Tasty sweet caramel malt with a nice hop bite. The hops provide the right amount of flavor and punch without being too bitter. Another winner from Goose Island and a wonderful gift to announce the spring season.
