Jan 25, 2008 2006 bottle: Thick honey pour with a soapy head that fades quick. Dirty yeast dominates the sweet nose, overpowering what little caramel and esther is there. Thick body, lots of white sugar, caramel and fruity esthers. Hops seem to have faded. Kind of a mess of flavors, but drinkable anyways.

Jan 23, 2008 fruity with an artificial tinge to it. decent and mildly interesting hop finish. cloudy golden brew with a hard candy flavor of lemon (perhaps) AND A HOP FINISH. huh. somewhat slick in the mouth though still a tad too light.

Jan 18, 2008 2006 Bottle. Cloudy amber body. Short white head that diminishes to pools of bubbles quickly. Sweet malty aroma with notes of grain and cookie. That’s followed by some herbal notes from the hops and a hint of rubber and alcohol. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightly bitter in the finish. Medium to full body with velvety texture that fiinishes slightly syrupy. Moderate carbonation. I didn’t get the uber hops promised in the commercial description because of the age of the bottle. Hops aside, this is still a fairly pedestrian belgian strong ale.

Jan 18, 2008 Bottled 022207 12 oz. bottle via trade with AlexDeLarge - Pours a hazy light golden color with a 1/2 finger thick white head. Very light spotty lacing. Aroma is herbal and grassy hops. Flavor is hops and lightly sweetened malt. Medium body. Not your typical estery and spicey Belgian ale. A good beer. Thanks Jason.

Jan 14, 2008 Aroma of spicy hops and yeast. Pours a cloudy orangy golden color with a thin white head. Flavor of hops, yeast and fruits. The body is medium with an oily texture and soft carbonation.

Jan 12, 2008 12 oz. single from John’s Grocery (Iowa City, IA). Poured into a tulip glass. Poured a hazy golden orange with a fairly prominent, lasting head that laces the glass well. Vague citrus fruit aromas that are pleasant, but understated. Initial taste doesn’t really resemble a Belgian. Fairly light body with some more subtle hops evident. Fruity and mild, especially for its alcohol content. If it is indeed a Belgian, it lacks that spicy bite I expect it to have. A semi-sweet bitterness on the finish that reminds me of honey. Leaves a pleasant aftertaste. A nice beer that might be appropriate for bridging non-micro drinkers to the belgian style. So-so overall. Possible bad bottle? Maybe a rerate in order.

Jan 7, 2008 This bottled brew from a bottle shop was marked 04/2006 lot 1507 and poured a small sized head of foamy yellow hued bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a transparent typically carbonated orange colored body and a fair lacing. The soft aroma was malty. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of malt mild orange peel and mild nut. A decent one that I would consider buying again.
