Taste is much better with a hoppy-sweet medicinal quality that stings the back of my tongue. $3/12oz nhorween (640), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 24, 2007 Bottle. Golden pour with a thin, oily white head. Subtle aroma - spices, light malt, citrus zest, coriander, slightly minty almost. Clean flavor, but lacking in the finish. Slightly sour, with some bready/yeasty notes. I’d like to get some more hops inthe flavor and aroma. Smooth and subtle and quite drinkable, but not hugely remarkable. Soonah (965), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 21, 2007 From Immy via trade. Thank you! Pour was a cloudy light copper with a one finger white head that quickly diminished into a galaxy swirl that sat for a bit on top of the brew. A little lacing initially, nothing substantial. The aroma was sweet citrus, hops and some dirt or grass. The flavor was fun. A swirl of sweet malt, spices like pepper and coriander, piney hops and some smoke. The mouthfeel was pleasing. Nice smooth carbonation, a succinct dry finish and a good bit of warming alcohol. Thanks again! Boesky (39), Galesburg, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 14, 2007 Another excellent Belgian-style offering from Greg Hall and Goose Island. Pours a deep golden, with the Saaz hops evident in the nose. Nicely balanced, with the malt up front and a dry, crisp finish. Some might argue that it’s too hoppy for style, but my take is that it’s a stateside interpretation of a classic, and should be appreciated as such.
A lovely drop, indeed. golubj (1290), Sunnyvale, California, USA

It was good/average for the style, and the flavors were enjoyable. alexanderj (2269), Chino Hills, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 14, 2007 Enjoyed this more than the Matilda actually. More hops (citrus) than I would have expected. Alcohol not present much. Pretty normal flavors for the style. Willin8 (55), Massapequa, New York, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 11, 2007 Aroma is hoppy and a tinge of citrus and grass. Kind of jumbled. The flavor too is jumbled. It tastes of hops and slight citrus with a grassy finish. The flavor profile is sharp and a bit unpleasant. legion242 (1586), Richardson, Texas, USA
