Not much aroma to it, but there was a nice subtle yeasty smell to it. Taste was a balance of spice and hops and a sweet finish, but no intense flavors. Sort of low-key for a belgian strong, but pretty good. HogTownHarry (4026), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 29, 2006 Bottle (12oz). Clear amber-orange, decent creamy white head. Light yeasty/grainy aroma, floral/herbal hops, a little spicy but mostly this is hoppy and grainy, apricot fruit as it warms. Taste is similar, grainy, funky almost sour hoppiness - nice, but a Belgian strong? Decent body, sticky and lightly astringent - very refreshing! Odeed (1680), Bakersfield, California, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 18, 2006 Golden orange body with fluffy white head, some lacing. Aroma is sweet malts, peppery hops. Juicy sweet malts up front become drier towards the back. Hops have a nice peppery bite (I guess from the saaz - I sure liked that). Finishes dry with lingering spice. zsb19 (62), Villa Hills, Kentucky, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 14, 2006 Bottle - Pours hazy golden copper color with thick foamy white head and a fair amount of lacing. Aroma is hoppy and sweet malty. Palate is on the thin side, but it feels substantial, with moderate carbonation. Upfront taste is hoppy and citrusy with the follow through turning into sweet honey maltiness balanced out by spicy hops. Aftertaste is a lingering hoppy citrus with yeasty notes of bread and malty sweetness. Overall, this is a very good beer with good balance that goes down incredibly fast. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 7, 2006 Bottle. Pours a cloudy, dark orange-brown body with a medium white creamy head. Pleasing aroma of orange fruitiness, caramel malt, and bread. Big chewy body - alcohol is there from the beginning and doesn’t subsist. Yeasty hops leaning towards resinous. Quite bitter and there is a fair sweet caramel component along with butterscotch. Nothing about this really screams Belgian but it sure tastes pretty good. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 29, 2006 Frothy white head on a cloudy golden beer. As yeasty as a Belgian tripel, grassy, more strongly hopped; hops not Belgian even if choice of yeast may give a Belgian flavor to the beer.. holdenn (1449), Chicago, Illinois, USA
