Very yeasty aroma with with notes of pear and apple. Very grainy and earthy mouthfeel. Flavor starts of with grass and lemon, then transitions to sweet honey. Bitterness comes out in the finish along with a hint of alcohol and chalk. A respectable beer from one of my favorite brewpubs. I prefer the version on tap. Pours a lush cheddar orange with an aroma that is very reminiscent of the barley portion of the Coors Brewery tour- much akin to Grapenuts. Nice head and clinging lace. Flavor is sweet Grapenuts, almost like the brewer took the finished barley, melted it down, and bottled it. Strangely enough, it’s not bad. Not the best Goose Island I’ve had to this point, but not bad. Palate is thick and coating. Interesting, to say the least. beervana (781), Libertyville, Illinois, USA

Poured from a 12 oz brown bottle (2005 Vintage). GI rep Jessica said that this Brewmaster reserve beer comes out in the summer. Clear amber hued ale having an average white head with good lacing. No discernable carbonation. Caramel/toasted malt aroma. Light-to-medium bodied beer that starts with light malt sweetness and fruity/citrus flavors. Finishes dry with light malt sweetness. Very little hop presence, probably because of aging. A good drinkable ale. fly (1332), austin, Tejas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 21, 2006 My friend Doug never ceases to amaze me in all the great beers he manages to get. This was very nice, so much so that I almost gulped down my six oz. portion, mostly noting that I liked it that much. Saaz and Styrian, nice combination and well used. Please sir, may I have more? wxman (587), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 19, 2006 Pours a cloudy orange with a generous rocky white head that diminishes quickly but doesn’t go away entirely. A thin layer stays on the surface, just enough to coat the glass with each sip. Aroma is pink grapefruit and peaches due to the the hops. Taste is caramel and spice along with the tangy citrus of the hops. Very, very good! mreeves (257), Sammamish, Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 18, 2006 Had on tap. Lightish color for the style. Somewhat of a brandyish flavor. OK, but nothing too exciting in this one in my opinion. MoreHead (355), Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA
