fiulijn (5695), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Mar 18, 2008 Bottled on 2007-02-22, 1 year old, 8% ABV It pours a cloudy orange-copper color, with a creamy head that disappears quite quickly. In the beginning the aroma is sweet and malty, but this as well vanishes; and later there is more accent on the partially fruity hop, light but nice. It has a good mouthfeel, with a very good toffee flavor and a good hopping, both well bitter and aromatic, with dry resins and character. Long final, very bitter, of Belgian memory. A solid Belgian Strong Ale.
blklab2007 (498), Connecticut, USA Jul 9, 2008 bottle marked bottled on 2/22/07 poured into a trappist glass has a golden apple cider color and a thin white head that fell immediately. light slow carbonation is present and the aroma has sweet malt, pear, sweet fruit, muted grassy hops, and nice slightly spiced yeast. bottle is aged one and a half years and it has muted the aroma a bit. flavor has lost most of the hop, sweet with light fruit, grass, touch of honey, and yeast that has become the main attraction. light flower hits and some drying bitterness finish off. age shows on this one but still pleasant to drink. Vac (2175), San Diego, California, USA Jul 8, 2008 Pours with a deep golden body topped by a thin head with some lacing left on the glass. It’s grassy from the hops with a slight malty sweetness and a little spice. Medium bodied, highly carbonated and a touch dry. TURDFERGUSON (1000), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA Jun 22, 2008 2006 bottle shared by JCB. Pours a golden orange with a small white head. I did not write any notes about the aroma, but remember it being sweet and yeasty with a just a faint touch of the hops. Flavor had a nice spicey hop and yeasty flavor, with some sweet malts in the finish. Pretty good. Thanks for bringing this Jason! emacgee (946), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Jun 20, 2008 Shared by Jason. Bottled in 2006 and it shows it. Pours a hazy peachy amber with an offwhite head. The nose is subdued with age, earthy, yeasty, no alcohol, hops have been lost. The flavor is earthy, shows no alcohol, a lightly grassy hop flavor, feels like most of it has been lost to age. Malt begins to show through a lot as well, basement feel and a light Belgian character. Feels smooth in the mouth with no carbonation. Like to try this fresh. EHopper (80), Minnesota, USA Jun 8, 2008 2006. Clear golden orange with small white head. Great aroma of some sweet fruit pastry lovingly baked. Flavor to match with a nice taste of alcohol. There is a nostalgic flavor I struggled to name. Maybe of some old relatives fruit cake, or some ancestral delight like fruit soup. . . no wait, horehound stick candy! Well balance hops, a bit of bitter with the sweet. All in all an enjoyable and distinctive drink worth sharing with friends sometime.
