JoeM500 (1877), Chicago (little italy), Illinois, USA Apr 27, 2002 Updated: Aug 29, 2006Super hoppy, grassy saaz aroma (unlike the description of Belgian strong ales)from a deep copper beer with a nice thick head. It’s back in season and on tap at both brewpubs. The alcohol makes itself known at the end with an extra little nibble to go along with the huge hop bite. ADDITION AUGUST 2006: bottled, i find it is a nearly perfect brew. An escape from IPA’s that I normally consume, yet still quenching my thirst for hops...introducing wild tasting yeasts and a super long lasting aftertaste, One of my favorite bottled beers ever. mobeer (5), flushing, New York, USA does not count Nov 2, 2006 Updated: Nov 4, 2006just a great beer. if u like dogfish 60 min this is a must try. cant find any fault with it. i suck at describing a beer like this in writing, its that good.here it goes. forget it just try it. dygbeer1 sucks., inside joke. but seriously dont listen to his ratings hes stupid and has no taste buds in the front of his mouth.everything he says is pure crap. no matter how good the beer is or how crappy he cant tell the difference. i should stop using rate beer to bash my brother but its too funny. but seriously he likes molson ice and amstel light. im not judging him. AOF (281), Naperville, Illinois, USA Nov 21, 2007 Updated: Dec 4, 2007Slightly hazy, golden sunset color with thin but creamy white head. Fresh grapefruit, lemongrass, pear, banana and almond in the nose. Some floral undertones. Creamy texture with a high drinkability. Finishes smooth and hoppy, with just a hint of bitterness. An excellent beer. fidemaster (164), USA Nov 14, 2004 deep golden color, creamy full head, very carbonated. This is a very full flavored, sharp beer. Much like many belgian beers. Kinz (1916), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA Jul 30, 2006 Courtesy of Secret Santa Eve! Reading the label I was expecting a Duvel clone. That’s what you expect when you hear golden Belgian with Styrian hops. Poured a hazy gold with slight orange tint, slight head. The aroma was the first thing to indicate this wasn’t a Duvel knock-off, rich with honey and bread. Loads of raisins, a touch of port, honey, bread, and a finish of hay and grass hops. Hint of alcohol. Magnificent.
