| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 11, 2006 Looks good and dark. Tastes like carmel with a very subtle choco/coffee feel. Could have stood to be more full bodied. The alcohol is quite apparent, and is perhaps the only aroma this beer has. StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 9, 2006 Clybourn. Semi-translucent and ruby-chestnut brown in color with a creamy tan wrung around the rim. Aroma showcases the sweeter natures of the doppelbock, with mild chocolate, spilt on cardboard, modestly toasted pecans, English toffee and distant caramel-dipped apples. Wholesome flavor ensues with cocoa and a scratchy caramel-cast, blanketing web. Pecans taken straight from the aluminum tin. Alcohol isn’t masked by much - it’s just confident in its ability to humbly annihilate. Pepper, mulled prunes and cider interact with subtle cinnamon and stagnant, errant nuts. Full-bodied, encasing warmth and chewy, chocolatey toffee. Everything is a solitary genius, but it’s not quite harmonious. Slightly flame licked and fully cased pecans dashed with cocoa powder are most prevalent in the finish. This one was a long time coming, and it didn’t disappoint. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 4, 2006 Looks really nice. Black color, small head. Really velvety texture and smooth. Aroma isn’t that noticeable. Not much flavor but it’s all really mild. frankenkitty (1902), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 4, 2006 Appeared a mahogany/ blood red with a cream-colored ring. Aroma is BIG alcohol and BIG malts, with the esters being a bit overbearing. Full-bodied, the flavor starts with an overage of sweetness moving to a dry finish with light, bitter hops. Flavorful enough, but it comes across as a "get-drunk-quick". (Sampled directly after the brewer as he tapped a fresh batch.)

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Nov 12, 2005 Starts out with a nice fruity and chocolate taste, but not too sweet. Then we have a hoppy, malty taste fallowed by a bitterfinish. Its seems like you could drink 10 of these without a problem but then the alcohol actually finds you. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 22, 2005 A very well made doppel. Defitely a touch on the sweet side and fairly complex with a healthy dose of bitterness in the finish. NobleSquirrel (1114), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Feb 6, 2005 Deep red/brown with a quite malty nose. Smooth fruitiness about it, though thin in the mouthfeel. Some chocolate and a very light hop finish. Nice. SkyinBrian (429), Collinsville, Illinois, USA
