Commercial Description:
This celebratory wheat ale, similar in strength to a barley wine, was brewed simply with pilsner and wheat malts, boiled extra long to reach it’s high starting gravity of 27 degrees plato, and then aged for four months. The result is a copper-hued ale with nearly three pounds of hops per barrel, an intense malt character, and a warm alcohol finish. Cheers! Served in a Snifter glass.

On tap (leftover keg from GABF 2007) poured a clear reddish copper with a lasting amber head. Aromas of fig, dates, toffee and some vinous notes. Palate was medium bodied and crisp with a sweet finish. Flavors of carmel, toffee, dates, pear and some light vinous notes wsith a crisp lingering sweet finish.

Guess I’ve got great timing!!! Bartender said it was just tapped that day & is a different version than the bourbon barrel Wheatmiser. Poured into a brandy snifter. Pours a deep copper color. Intense malty aroma, boozy, bourbon, whiskey malt. Taste is intense with sweet malts, light butterscotch, alcohol & bourbon & whisky flavors. The bourbon does not dominate as much as a barrel aged would but adds a nice complexity to it. Very good beer

On tap @ Clybourn. Orange-red pour with a thin tan head. Aroma of orange liquor, candied fruits, caramel malt, and honey. Flavors of honey, bready caramel malts, candied fruits, ornage zest and some light booze. Thick body, boozey/sweet/bready with a bready/sweet finish. Interesting though I imagine it would’ve been better now than in the hot summer months.

On tap at Clybourn on 6/20/07: Pours a transparent dark copper with a thin wispy-lacing ring of off-white head. Aroma of sweet dense caramel and wheat with a touch of noble and citrusy US hops. Body starts thick and viscous with a sweet dark caramel flavor along with a touch of raisin complexity. Finishes sticky sweet and with some fruity esters. A nice wheatwine.

RBSG 07 Minneapolis Grand Tasting: Caramel color, light head and lacing. Nose of hoppy spruce and sweet caramel. The flavor is strong and very sweet, lots of fruity slushee flavors and nice alcohol and hop notes. Finishes smooth, excellent.

Tap at GI Clybourn- Dark red color, small off white head. Rich, sweet, great body. Wheat and hops work together to balance. The hops add a slightly grassy citrus charachter. Very nice

Draft at Clybourne. Pours a nice copper. Aroma of pine, yeast esters, and rich caramel malt. Full bodied with a very slight stickiness and full carbonation. Nice but not overdone barleywine richness, but with a nice detectable wheatiness. Aggressively hopped with good amount of residual sweetness. Nicely balanced and very enjoyable.
