dnstone (135), , New Jersey, USA Jul 6, 2009 Probably my favorite beer so the rating is partial. It is thick and complex theres not much to say beyond its worth the $20+ for the 4 pack! YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA Apr 21, 2008 Rich black pour with just a wisp of tan head. Dark roasted coffee, baker’s chocolate, fennel, and Bourbon greet the nose. The coffee dominated the flavor with only subtle notes of Bourbon, nuts, and chocolate. Much enjoyed this. mmcdowell3 (13), USA Oct 15, 2007 very disappointing beer. The malty aroma was OK. But this beer tasted very...well..yuk. The coffee flavors were annoying and overdone. If you like cold coffee that has sat in the pot for days..you will love this beer. stevehousebeer (7), Chicago, Illinois, USA does not count Jan 9, 2007 I don’t see what all the fuss is about with this beer. On the possitve side the beer looks good and has a rich malty aroma, but on the flip side I thought the flavor was out of balance(too much malt) and the mouth feel reminded me of thick maple syrip ( I know I spelled it wrong) This beer just was not for me. BBB63 (4199), La Porte, Indiana, USA Dec 31, 2006 FoBAB 06: Opaque body with an oily tears on the glassware. The nose detects coffee grinds of used Mocha Java, bittersweet chocolate, English toffee bar, prune, and quite an earthy overtone ester. The taste had major espresso overtones with some sweet fruit and chocolate background. The finish displays some anise and black pepper, smoked wood, and earthy qualities. The bourbon was hardly noticeable at all. The mouth feel is oily and lush, very smooth. The good brew but even for this coffee drinker it was a bit too much leaning towards the addition of espresso bean. Worth another try however. ElBorracho (472), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 22, 2006 Sampled at the FOBAB 2006. Giant aromas of expresso explode out of this dark brew. The taste is dominated by the same coffee flavors and only slight hints of the Bourbon barrel it was aged in. Not as complex as I would of liked and a bit one dimensional but still really good. Oh, it seems I’ve knocked it out of the top fifty... let the crying begin... TPaliga (212), Munster, Indiana, USA Dec 2, 2006 Nice big Impy stout. Subtle bourbon flavor. Big coffee and chocolate on the nose and tongue. Nice brew. RAYBOY01 (1813), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 1, 2006 Bourbon County Stout is in my top three stouts in the world! (By the way: note to self: Please rerate all of your top 20 beers...your list is ALL over the place!) But I thought this one was way over the top with bitterly strong coffee overtones. (By the way: note to everyone else: Please ignore the wizened old man behind the curtain apparently working my mouth. That’s just Cornfield!) Don’t get me wrong! I still
thought this was a wonderful drink. In my opinion though they went a step away from near-perfection with the over-emphasis on the overwhelmingly bitter coffee notes.
