KimJohansen (6676), Copenhagen V, Denmark Sep 20, 2008 Black with tiny beige head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, bourbon, chocolate and vanilla notes. Sweet flavour with roasted malt, chocolate, bourbon, coffee nougat and warming alcohol towards the end. noncaloric (602), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Sep 18, 2008 Updated: Jan 31, 2009Aromatherapy. And if that doesn’t help, there’s always self-medication... Aroma: Wow. Booze, dark fruits, vanilla, caramel. It’s all here, distinguishable and enjoyable separately. Appearance: Dark, dark brown, opaque except at its thinnest points. Essentially no head, some tan bubbles. Flavor: Caramel, booze, and vanilla, the roast malts and occasional dark fruit sweetness sparkling though. Finishes bittersweet like port. Palate: Thick and smooth, with plenty of alcohol warming. Sips better than most whiskey, but not at all drinkable. Swolf3 (252), Elkton, Maryland, USA Sep 16, 2008 Bottle, Big up’s to GMCC2181 for sharing. Poured dark brown with very thin tan head. Beautiful aroma of vanilla, roasted coffee, dark fruits, and strong bourbon smell. Taste is very strong alcohol, coffee, and smoke. Finish is exactly like bourbon, but not overpowering. A nice brew to sip on. Madsnp (611), Odense C, Denmark Sep 15, 2008 Bottle. Many thanks to DolleWaitor!! A very dark brown beer withalmost no head. Aromas of sweet vanilla, dark chocolate, warming alcohol, subtle smoke, wood, cherry and coffee. Flavours of sweet fruit, alcohol, chocolate, vanilla and malty sweetness. Truly a sipper! kegbear (265), Orange, California, USA Sep 7, 2008 Bottle thanks to KingpinIPA. Wonderful aroma of dried prunes, sweet cherry, dates, vanilla. Great thick mouthfeel. Tastes of prunes, dark fruit, carmel, vanilla and bourbon. Finish gives a really nice alcohol warmth. I really liked this one. bretupdegraff (172), Fishers, Indiana, USA Sep 5, 2008 Sweet smokey aroma - virtually no head and I poured it pretty hard- First sip threw me hard with a strong licorice and dark fruit kick. Aftertaste is kinda bourbon smoke. not a bad brew -very strong ABV at 13% and you can taste it. I think the dark fruit might be a bit too strong for my taste. SuperDave70 (1157), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA Aug 31, 2008 This bottle somehow ended up in my cooler at a local tasting, thanks hellbilly! Pours a thick dark black with a small tan head that eventually fights it way to the top. Big aroma of roasted malt, coffee, cocoa, vanilla, bourbon and alcohol. Flavor is much the same, with the addition of dark fruit. Thick and creamy on the palate. A bit of an alcohol burn on the otherwise sweet, sticky finish. A fantastic brew! BigJoe7231 (24), Schererville, Indiana, USA Aug 29, 2008 Good stuff! Pours black, with almost no head. Smells of sweet bourbon oak. The 13% ABV is disguised nicely by the bourbon and chocolately overtones.
