Bigmmartin (366), Dayton, Ohio, USA Jun 25, 2008 Updated: Jul 6, 2008Bottle thanks to Douglas88! Thanks alot for this awesome beer. I’ve been looking for this one for awhile and it wasn’t disappointing. I definitely wasn’t prepared for the intense aroma, really blew me away... dominated by bourbon. The taste wasn’t as overpowering, mostly caramel and sweet roasted malts. Extremely full bodied and smooth. A wonderful experience. 12many (231), Ohio, USA Jun 25, 2008 Bottle thanks to bigmmartin. Black pour with a tiny brown head. Strong aroma of smokey malt and alcohol. Surprisingly smooth smoke/coffee with a good bittersweet balance. Slick syrupy and lasting bitter finish. Wonderful. IPAaLLtHEwAY (136), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA Jun 25, 2008 This beer is not currently the 28th best on earth for no reason. Pours rich black with a small brown head. The aroma of this 2006 Is of bourbon and oak. The flavor is crazy. So so crazy. Starts off rich with caramel, then evolves into the warm sweet bourbon. Slowly the flavor fades to the back of your palate, and you get some mild vanilla. Literally minutes later you still taste the smooth cool caramel/vanilla aftertaste. I would go celibate for a life time supply of this and bells expedition stout. mattmc1973 (300), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA Jun 20, 2008 Updated: Dec 14, 200812 oz bottle, pours a rich black, with tan head, that dissipates mostly. Incredible aroma of bourbon, coffee, oak, vanilla, and chocolate...but mostly bourbon. Rich flavor of bourbon, oak, and roasted coffee. Rich, creamy mouthfeel, with light carbonation. An amazing beer! gunhaver (1024), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 17, 2008 Bottle, courtesy Gillard. Pitch black pour, tons of thick lacing, with a big tannish head. Big booze in the nose. Bourbon and raisins. Caramel, soy sauce, chocolate. Flavor is chock full of chocolate. Roasted malt, big creamy flavors of caramel, vanilla. Despite the alcohol is being so prominent in the nose, it’s fairly subdued in the flavor. Very drinkable. TheElder (49), DeSoto, Wisconsin, USA Jun 16, 2008 ’06 12 oz. Pours black with highlights of orange/ amber, and head as dark as milk chocolate. Great looking brew. When I read that it was barreled for 150 days I knew it was going to be intense. I was correct. You only have one of these at a time. The bourbon is a little too much but, you can still get many things out of it. Tons of malts. Oak, vanilla, and sweet caramels. ATLBeerDog (280), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jun 15, 2008 2007 Edition - Pours deep down black , not as thick as motor oil but getting close. Not much carbonation but there is one beautiful 1/16 inch caramel colored head. Heavy lacing. First sniff: Smells like bourbon straight out of the bottle with deep roasted malts aroma overtones. First tastes is thick with a lovely bourbon kick followed by heavy malts, coffee, and chocolate – slight hint of vanilla trying to poke through. This is an awesome treat definitely “World Class”. kmeves (1080), Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA Jun 11, 2008 Pours a thjick deep black with almost no head to speak of. Aroma is sweet rich bourbon, wood, chocolate and smoke. Flavor is big time bourbon, roasted malt, vanilla, smoke and chocolate. Long bourbon accenuated finish with a slight alcohol burn. Full bodied, thick texture. A damn fine beer if I do say so myself.
