Pours a thick, black oily substance w/ a modest head and minial lacing. Strong aromas of dark chocolate pudding, vanilla. Nice! Full nectar like heavy cream w/ soft residual effers. A huge chocolate malt backbone w/ defined Bourbon basting. Deep roasted coffee bean and freshly cooked chocolate pudding all wrapped together w/ a stinging asprin bittering. This stuff is amazing. It’s chunky, chewy, warming, and very generous. This brew is decadent and filling. Huge roast, brownies, vanilla, sweet yet balanced. Trump visual. emacgee (1884), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Dec 24, 2006 Obtained in trade with brewblackhole (many thanks). Pours the blackest of black brews, allows absolutely no light penetration. The darkness is complete, like oil. The head is nonexistent, with brown patches showing up in places. Leaves a brown creamy film over the glass. The aroma is very sweet and very complex. Oak, bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, alcohol. Absolutely complete and perfect aroma and appearance. The flavor is also extremely complex. There is so much going on in this beer that its overwhelming. Chocolate, molasses, alcohol, vanilla, oak. Amazing. The palate, is full, thick, velevety, smooth. The finish is full and warm. An amazing beer. Ljunkan (394), Karlstad, Sweden
| 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Jan 31, 2009 2008 bottle. Pours a pitch black color, looks very oily; the head is small and it dies. Aroma is absolutely fantastic! I can’t say I’ve smelled anything better lately, it has been a while since I had Närke Kaggen and I’m not really sure, but this could even be better than that one. Lots of roasted malts, dark chocolate, fudge, toffee, almonds, oak, vanilla, bourbon and even some light smokiness behind all this too. Flavour is powerful; very sweet, yet balanced, in my opinion. Roasted malt, dark chocolate, fudge, almonds, oak, vanilla and bourbon. Perfection. A slight warming note from the alcohol. Palate is extremely filling. A fullbodied beer, very creamy and thick, low carbonation. Long, pleasant finish. Overall this have to be the best beer I’ve had together with Kaggen! Maybe the absolute best one. I hate perfection when it comes to beer because of so many styles and craftsmanship. I am getting used to the fact the sometimes a perfect score is warranted. This may be the best beer I have ever had so far and is definitely the best Stout out of any stouts I have had.
Aroma is a smack you in the face Big Bourbon and Chocolate goodness that makes you want to snuggle by a fireplace on a very cold winter night. The color of this lovely could not get any blacker.. Mouthfeel was very very full body and a fantastic carbonation. It was soft and Creamy and well.. Chocolate Bourbon Pudding in a glass. Flavor was Sex.... That is right it was Sex in a glass.. Very slow, Marvin Gay playing, Fireplace burning, Snow falling, Where you forget your name Sex!! WickerBrew (312), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Best beer I have ever had, hands down no contest. Its a sticky, thick, sweetish crazy combination. The bourbon taste is obvious, very oaky. I have never had some of the other high powered midwestern stouts, but if they are better than this I will be shocked. drowland (1410), Tallahassee, Florida, USA

So black light won’t go through, and a nice lingering dark brown head. The aroma is endless with sweet malt, oak, vanilla, tannins, a touch of bourbon, and a dash of alcohol. The flavor delivers big sweet malts and a dash of alcohol upfront followed by hints of candied fruit and finishing with a lingering definite coffee flavor layered with chocolates. I have since tried this a few times and am aging two more bottles. This stuff is simply amazing and everyone should try it. One of my favorite beers. roguemonk (9), Orland Park, Illinois, USA does not count | 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Oct 19, 2008 Probably my favorite annual offering. Had a mini vertical 2007-2008. Both were different but extremely delicious. Perfection in a glass. Dark chocolate, caramel with wrapped in a beautiful robe of bourbon. A truly inspired beer...Also recently had the Blueberry Bourbon County Stout at the brewpub...Mind expanding!
