Extremely aromatic. The roasted malts are huge here, evoking coffee, chocolate, and a slight nuttiness.
One of the most intensely chocolatey beers I’ve ever had, or that I could even imagine. Fierce dark chocolate and bourbon, coffee and maybe vanilla.
Really smooth despite the slight booziness. Great carbonation and full body. MatchesForHire (25), Westborough, Massachusetts, USA

Pours very dark brown with about an 1/8" head that stuck around. Aroma heavy on the bourbon (but I love that kind of thing), with a bit of wood char, some dried dark fruit, and a spoonful of caramel. Flavor more of the same: lots of bourbon, vanilla, caramel, chocolate, coffee, toffee, and all the rest of that goodness. This is an incredible beer, and if you can get your hands on it, do so without hesitation. Swalden28 (1531), McKinney, Texas, USA

Pours a deep black with copper head, stains the glass. Aroma is of strong dark roast, oak, chocolate, whisky, some light soy. Flavor of strong dark roast, a little soy, spicey, whisky, chocolate, a little oak. Mouth feel is creamy, heavy body with low carbonation. Overall, it’s a sipper, but one of the best stouts that I have ever had! Very warming as well. ILoveNewBeer (113), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 2, 2008 Pours a beautiful black liquid, with little or no head. Chocolate mint to the nose. If beauty could be a liquid this would be it. So full bodied, full flavored and just the perfect beer (if at all possible) this is it. I am a huge, huge IPA person and this is the best stout that I have ever had the pleasure of drinking.
If you see this in a store, buy it. changeup45 (804), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Mar 23, 2009 Bottle courtesy of jerrymorrison. Bottled 10/21/08. 13% Abv. Pours a pitch black color with a thin brown head that fades but a couple of swirls brings it back. I gladly spent a lot of time on the aroma, oak, pine, bourbon, sherry, even some dark fruit behind all of that, wonderful scent. Lots of oak, vanilla, bourbon and rum flavors, a little roasty but not a lot of that as the oak and bourbon shine, with some piney hops and hint of dark chocolate. There is an alcohol bite but it’s a controlled burn that’s soothing and very warm. What an amazing beer. Perfect evening sipper. Thanks again Jerry! awiseman01 (385), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Oct 24, 2009 ’08 Bottle from Crown#6, poured into ’W’ brandy snifter (thanks Dan, 1st use). Nose is very nice strong bourbon with molasses, licorice, dark chocolate, roasted malt, brown sugar and some faint figs, very inviting. Taste is WOW! Loads of some of the best bourbon flavor a beer can contain. You’re gonna have to love bourbon to like this beer. I love bourbon and I LOVE this beer. The bourbon loads up so much, I don’t really get much beyond that other than a slight roasted malt backing and some brown sugar. Mouthfeel is smooth and slimy once it warms. Let this one warm for sure, it opens up into an amazing sipable delight. The ’W’ on the side of my glass must stand for ’Winner’, ’cause that’s what this beer is. | 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Mar 15, 2009 Pours from bottle black with virtually no head. Smell of toffee and bourbon. Flavour of bourbon (obviously), oak, some nuttyness, earthy. Slightly sweet, very full. You definatly notice the high Alchohol content, which is to be expected. Very good. Will keep stocked up in the fridge!
