Commercial Description:
"I really wanted to do something special for our 1000th batch at the original brewpub. Goose Island could have thrown a party. But we did something better. We brewed a beer. A really big batch of stout-so big the malt was coming out of the top of the mash tun. After fermentation we brought in some bourbon barrels to age the stout. One hundred and fifty days later, Bourbon County Stout was born-A liquid as dark and dense as a black hole with a thick foam the color of bourbon barrels. The nose is a mix of charred oak, vanilla, carmel and smoke. One sip has more flavor than your average case of beer. It overpowers anything in the room. People have even said that it’s a great cigar beer, but I haven’t yet tried a cigar that would stand up to it." Brewmaster Greg Hall; IBU’s 60-High Color - Midnight Was 11%, the 2007 and 2008 are listed at 13%.

2008. Bu en octobre 2009. Arôme très coconut et alcool. Saveurs de coconut/vanille, de malt chocolat et d’alcool. Belle petite touche de bourbon en finale. Vraiment merveilleuse.

Bottle courtesy of furley of internet-fame. Thanks! Pours a pitch black with brown head. Smell is strong vanilla and oak. Tends to cool down a bit as it warms. Very deep taste. Bourbon flavor is apparent, as well as a very smoky wood taste. Very good, but I can’t drink a ton of em.

2009 Bottle. Poured black with a dark wooden brown head. Aroma was full of bourbon notes with sweet caramel and a bit of nuttiness lying underneath. Flavor began with caramel and sweet roasted malt and a bourbon flavor grows into the finish. Very thick on the tongue.

Pours a very dark brown/black with a tan head that has decent retention. Slight cherry, strong vanilla aromas and a slight hint of bourbon/alcohol. Chocolate, vanilla, and cherry flavors. Very bold but smooth body that lingers, medium - low carbonation. .

Pours a lasting ring of tan head with some lace and a dark brown body. Looks like a shot of espresso. Aromas of soy sauce, toasted and roasted malt, slight bourbon and vanilla notes. Flavors of toasted, roasted malt, soy sauce, molasses, bourbon, wood. Finish is a little hot, sticky, dry, vanilla coffee, bacon.

Tap. Strong bourbon aroma up front with light chocolate malt. Opaque black color with minimal head. Strong bourbon flavor initially with a milder chocolate malt finish. Nice - bourbon flavor pretty strong.

Completely opaque motor oil pour w/ effervescent caramel head that dissipates quickly, but continues bubbling like a cola, hugely complex aroma w/ vanilla, oak, cognac, butterscotch and chocolate, flavor matches aroma on front end w/ bitterness and booze coating the palate on finish, warming alcohol spreads completely to the back of the throat, massively large mouthfeel
