2009 bomber. Pours a very clear glowing mahogany with a fine dense but fizzy fluffy off-white head. Aroma is hoppy and fruity, citrus with a bit of resinous pine, love the light chalky nutty spice with the smooth rich malt character. Flavor follows, Goose yeast, nice and hoppy right now, lots of citrus as it warms, some fruitiness, ginger snaps, lightly nutty, smoothly malty, medium bitterness. Medium bodied, glassy sugary, corse larger soda carbonation.

22 oz. bottle. Vintage 2009. According to the website the recipes change annually. ABV 5.7. Pours a thick, tiny bubbled, cream colored, head with extensive lacing, over a clear, coppery amber (SRM 10) body......nose is toffee, treacle, leather, tiny bit of grass....taste initially is light sweet caramel malts, then a bit of nuttiness, leading to a light slightly floral hop bitterness....mouth feel is medium, carbonation adds a tiny bubbled spritz to the flavors. The brewery calls this a Brown Ale not an Old Ale. This, has has a beautiful appearance, nice nose, and all the appropriate flavors for a lighter version of a Brown Ale. It was very well done.

2009 7% version from Utobeer market stall. Pours brown with a red sheen and a good white head. Aromas of cinammon, some citrus, malts, ginger, coriander. Flavours of ripe plums, chocolate, sweet spices, raisins, ginger. For a 7% beer it slips down rather nicely and belies its strrength. Finishes laden with malts with a bitter hoppy edge. Not bad.

The importer has glued a label claiming 7% on this bottle, but I suspect it must be the normal version. It’s hazy, red-brown with a creamy and lasting head. The aroma has notes of fruit, malt, caramel, raisin and peach. The flavor is moderately sweet, bordering to sweet with a slightly dry citrus bitterness, mostly in the finish. It has notes of peach, malt, caramel, citrus, melon and light raisin. It’s refreshing, pleasant and uncomplicated and the body is quite full.
