smell is of spice, malt, and some pepper.
taste is of spice, malt, caramel, pepper, and roasted nuts, ends a little dry and somewhat bitter.

Dec 6, 2009 This is a amber colored beer with a light lacy white head. Good sweet malt flavor with balanced hops and some spice. The hops are not too bitter and have a nice finish with the malt flavor. Little bit of spice at the end but not overbearing like some Christmas Ales. It is slightly warming and very enjoyable. I would recommend this beer as I have continued to be impressed with each of the beers from Goose Island.

Dec 6, 2009 22 oz. bottle from Plaza Liquors - Pours a clear copper color with a large off white head. Light lacing. Aroma is herbal hops and soap. Flavor is lightly sweetened malt and hints of spice. Medium body. I like this Christmas beer because it’s not over spiced like so many. A good beer.

Aroma: Light alcohol, hay-ish aroma.
Appearance: Dark redish brown appearance.
Flavor: Lightly hoppy, slight bitter taste.
Palate: Long, bitter finish. Light medium body.
Overall Impression: This beer is decent, not great. I have four more maybe my impression will change.

Dec 5, 2009 Deep amber pour with thick tan head. Aroma of yeasty malt and spices and hops. Caramel malt with coriander, cloves and dark fruit, midly bitter finish.

2009 version. Pours clear amber with a small, creamy, yellowish head. Aroma has fruity hops, coriander, cloves, yeast. Highish, prickly carbonation, fine dryish mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet, coriander, lots of cloves, caramel. Good dryness with a relatively long aftertaste. Some anise in the finish.

Dec 4, 2009 Not my favorite Goose Island beer, I like the christmas ales from Sierra Nevada and Deshutes just a bit better but it is up there in my top 5 seasonal ales.

Dec 1, 2009 Bottle from bevmo. colr was a ruby/brown with a long lasting off white head. Aroma of sweet malt, fruit, nuts, caramel, must, yeast, vanilla and bread. Flavor was quite balanced and tasty for the style. Alot of caramel and breadiness, with a good cose of sweet malt and fruit. Finish is largely earthy and a bit dry. An easy drinking winter seasonal.

Nov 30, 2009 Bomber courtesy of BOLTZ7555 – thanks Jason! Pours a clear dark amber with a one finger dense light tan head that leaves spotty lacing. The nose is caramel and light spicy fruit. The taste is roasted nuts, chocolate covered raisins, caramel malt and some hops in the finish. Medium semi-creamy mouthfeel. Tasty beer – better than I thought it would be – thanks again J!
