GABF 2007. An unclear orange-brown beer with a thn orangey head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of wheat and banana as well as other fruits. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of alcohol, bourbon? and wheaty, leading to a dry wheaty finish. Nice one.

Sampled from a growler at the Milwaukee YEHa!05 courtesy of BBB63: Pours a slightly transparent deep mahogany with a thin ring of light-tan head. Has a sweet yeasty authentic bready dark caramel and dark fruity aroma. Starts with sweet toasty caramel and bready yeasty complexity. Finishes smooth and hides its abv well. Very well-balanced and authentic. A very nice weizenbock.

It didn’t have quite the kick that I expected from a weizen bock, but it sure is one tasty beer. It looks like a cola with a frothy tan head. The nose is caramel and toffee and banana and raisins and clove and other spices. Very soft in the mouth. The flavor echoes the aroma, ending on a sweet, fruity finish with just a hint of the alcohol. Very nice.

Yet another growler ala BBB63. Copper color with a moderate off-white head. Aromas of caramel, sweet wheat, light chocolate and bananas foster. Flavors are full and sweet. Certainly sugar coated grapenuts with a few thin slices of bananas. Hints of spice and alcohol. A difficult style that has been hit well by this brewery.

Hazy reddish brown ale, dark almost murky. Sweetvinous aroma with prunish notes. Sweet succulent Aventinus-like bock, with sweet vanilla, caramel, cloves and hops in final. Rich mouthfeel wth alcohol warmth. Excellent.

Rerate, shared growler with TAR and CB: Muddy brown with ruby highlight around the ring of small but dense tan head and good lace. The aroma has lots of yeasty esters of banana, lemongrass, clove, white pepper, caramel, mocha, smoke; very aromatic for the style. The taste starts wheaty and fruity with a caramel and smoky undertone. The yeast characters shine thoughout this beer yet is wonderfully balanced by the dark malts. The finish is spicy and twangy with a subdued pine tone. Some coffee and pumpernickel bread notes too. The feel is sharp and has a light bite, good depth on the palate with numerous different characteristics. Still among the best ever in the genre, yowzer, get some while you can.----Original Review----Brown/reddish hue with a nice creamy tan head and excellent lacing. Aroma hinted of cherry, wood, caramel roasted malt, banana, lemongrass and bittersweet chocolate. Somewhat vinous and very nice nose. Wonderful tasting brew that starts out in a fresh fruit and smoky twang combonation. It then turns in to a creamy chocolate malt and hint of spices taste. Finally finishes with a undertone of crisp tropical fruit and molasses. Full-bodied and has a rich mouthfeel. Way too smooth for something this strong. Outstanding beer, one of Goose Island's best.

Growler from BBB63 at the ’07 SAF. Poured a slightly hazed deep copper color with an off-white head. the pour looks real thick. Dark fruit aroma with some wheaty lemon notes. Light tartness. The flavor was fruity with golden raisins, wheaty notes and sugar.
