Pours hazy amber with a medium off-white head that fades to a thin rim fairly quickly. Aroma is of sweet malts, caramel, biscuit, and a little bit of hops. Flavor is similar with a fairly decent balance between malty sweetness and hop bitterness. I wouldn’ t mind it having a little more hop bite though. Overall, it’s fairly enjoyable and a good starting beer for converting people to craft beers.

Aroma promised good things ahead and the beer delivered. Notes of sweet fruit and hops. Appearance was dark amber with lasting head of generous foam. Taste was caramel, hops, candy, and malt. Some slight butterscotch was apparent and possibly purposely so. Biggest factor was the dry palate and high bitterness. Perhaps too much so. This is a bitter beer. Bitterness was somewhat astringent and harsh. Overall, a good beer but be prepared for bitterness. blipp (1734), Newark, New Jersey, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 16, 2009 Pours a hazy ruby/amber with a smallish head, leaves decent lacing... Mild hoppiness over a malty english aroma with a touch of orange citrus... The citrus starts the flavor with a nice hit of malty traditional english flavors following... A touch dry in the finish with a subtle hint of sweetness, very good english pale... gsmitty80 (653), Washington DC, USA

I found it to be very smooth and easy drinking with not as much spice as the description is saying. Session-able and crisp I look forward to trying more of their beers in the future.
