Almost like drinking bourbon. Very smoky. First time trying a beer like this for me, so it was a very strange sensation. KariCupcake (214), Lenox, Massachusetts, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Apr 11, 2006 Went here back in October and am just getting around to entering in the rating. My notes say "malty - thick - heavy in the mouth - yet smooth", so I guess I liked it. Dough77 (777), Aurora, Illinois, USA

Nose of dark malts, dark fruits, molasses, with slight alcohol and chocolate. Taste is similar, but quite smooth, alcohol surprisingly well hidden. Touch of nut as well. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Aug 22, 2005 On tap at G.I. Clybourn: Dark brown with a tan lasting one-fingered head. Had to let this warm up a bit. Huge nose of dark sweetness, maple syrup, raisens, pruns, brown sugar, you know this is going to have some bite to it. Flavor is very warming from the alcohol, but it doesn’t appear much, its well hidden behind the sweeter toffee, nuttiness, and fruits. Heavy, coating mouthfeel. heemer77 (4304), Savannah, Missouri, USA

The head is yellowish. The aroma is sweeet bubblegum and some maple like funkiness. The taste is bright with caramel and some nuts. The finish is a little nutty. Philip (436), Illinois, USA

This was kind of funny, my wife and I had glasses of FFF Moloko and EuroTrash, while 1FastSTi had this one. Glasses were rotated around so we all could sample. But to the beer, this isn’t the most aromatic of brews, although there’s some hazelnut and pecan in the nose with the malt. On the palate, add a bit of vanilla and roasted flavors, but on the whole, not all that impressive. Now on bourbon, this might be tasty! barleyPops (1079), Quad-Cities, Illinois, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 10, 2005 on tap at GI - Clybourn, served in a stemmed tulip snifter. reminded me a lot of the Bourbon County Stout. notes of bourbon, vanilla, oak and roasted malt. even my lite bber drinking friends admitted this was a smooth and well balanced beer. after drinking a pint of Midway IPA then sipping on an Imperial Brown Goose, all the while looking across the parking lot at Sam’s, ( knowing they had saved some beers for me at customer service ) I knew I was indeed in a special place. this had wonderful flavors of dark pitted fruit with the previously mentioned bourbon and vanilla. just damn fine beer. get there if you can!
