Biggest impression is that there is a huge dense, smooth palate on this. Good malt and hop balance. Nice lighter hop flavors of peach, mango and passionfruit. Virtually no bitterness, but a balanced profile and not too sweet at all. Alcohol is a very muted flavor. Manages to be a pretty different, interesting beer. Very light, bright flavors. Could be even lighter if the malt was taken down a notch, but i like it right where it is. Not light and refreshing at all, but drinks extremely fast.

Usually they tend to fall on the side of "too citrusy" or too much musty Hop flavor. This beer strikes an excellent balance between citrus and pine notes. You would never know it is 9% just by the taste. The head is dense, mostly white with an off color of orange. The palate is fantastic, with an excellent range of hops and citrus notes. Smell is very mild in a grassy pine needle hop. taste slight tartness in it, with a defining grapefruit. Very chewy on the palate very well done IPA. AgentSteve (1379), SF Bay Area, California, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 2, 2008 Bottle courtesy AllAboutStout. Beautiful pour of opaque ruddy brown with a full, creamy head. Nose is awesome, with a sweet pineapple hop aroma. Flavor is quite complex, with the sweetness from the malt actually leading the way but not drowning out the pine hoppiness. The mouthfeel is very creamy as well. Great stuff. Braudog (3778), Dayton, Ohio, USA

NICE aroma ... full of fruit, orange rind, bloom. Big and full of rich flavors, tart and tight, mandarin orange, definite alcohol basis. Exceptionally balanced. Outstanding. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 28, 2008 Bottle pours a golden color with a thick white head that laces the glass as you drink it. Medium mouthfeel/body and has a subtle pine-like smell. Tastes like I’m chewing on pine needles with a grapefruit aftertaste. Not too overpowering because it has a nice malt base to it. Good brew. swoopjones (1923), Buffalo, New York, USA

Aromas of citrusy hops, orange, marmalade & toffee/caramel malt. This beer was dangerously close to best by date so I think the hops may have mellowed a bit, but still a medium hop flavor that was beautifully mixed with the sweeter malts. Extremely smooth & balanced. Might be missing that hop bite Im loking for in a DIPA/IIPA but still a wonderful beer. billtheman (50), milford, Delaware, USA

Heres a Chicago beer that makes me proud that I was Chicago born and raised. Lived there until 2005 when we retired and moved to Delaware. terrific tasting, smooth on the palate, goes down easy. Good aroma and appearnce. Now I’m in Delaware and Goose Island IPA would very well compare with the beers I have tasted from Dogfish. OO if only I could find this beer in Delaware.
