Commercial Description:
An aromatic blend of oats, chocolate and coffee enhances our classic Oatmeal Stout. Encompassing award-winning flavor, a rich black over ruby hue and a creamy tan head, this stout is memorable and enduring. All in all, a truly drinkable brew.

Bottle from SL. Poured a dark brown with some reddish mahoganey edging, average initial head, not as impressive as it could be for the style. Aroma was chocolate, licorice, some milky oaty character. The flavor was all of the aroma, pretty nice and rich, a touch of caramel, a dry bite on the end from the oats, but an underlying sweet lactose presence. Moderate to full body, a tad too sweet/sticky for a classic oatmeal stout, but still quite nice. Maybe it will move along the swine flu out of the system???

Bottle from Utobeer. Black thin pale tan head. A very dry and choccy aroma of a stout. It’s absolutely fine, but you know what? I’m just not bothered by this at all. Some choccy cream in it. So an untirely capable beer, which I just am not that bothered about.

Bottle. Pours near black with a beige head. Roasted malt aroma with some oatmeal and hints of sweetness. Nice sweet and roasty flavor with notes of coffee, caramel, toasted grains, and a lightly bitter roasty finish. Very tasty.

Sample at the Goose Island tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 11/19/09. Pours the darkest of browns with a medium tan head. Roasty coffee and creamy chocolate nose. Chocolate flavor with roasty coffee and a dry, ashy finish. A little more finesse on the finish would have been nice, but that’s just being nitpicky. A truly good beer.
