Black color with a large beige head. Aroma is roasted malts and coffee. The flavor is chocolate and coffee with a carbonated mouthfeel and a surprisingly bitter finish.

Bottle from Utobeer. Black thin pale tan head. A very dry and choccy aroma of a stout. It’s absolutely fine, but you know what? I’m just not bothered by this at all. Some choccy cream in it. So an untirely capable beer, which I just am not that bothered about.

Bottle. Pours near black with a beige head. Roasted malt aroma with some oatmeal and hints of sweetness. Nice sweet and roasty flavor with notes of coffee, caramel, toasted grains, and a lightly bitter roasty finish. Very tasty.

Sample at the Goose Island tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 11/19/09. Pours the darkest of browns with a medium tan head. Roasty coffee and creamy chocolate nose. Chocolate flavor with roasty coffee and a dry, ashy finish. A little more finesse on the finish would have been nice, but that’s just being nitpicky. A truly good beer.

Pours a rich, dark brown color. Close to black. One finger of loose brown foam on top. Dissipates to a thin layer, quickly. Lacing is decent. Nice, big malty presence. A big roasted coffee scent is here, also. Hints of milk chocolate and light notes of toasted oats. Light hint of vanilla toffee. Big roasted malt flavor. Undertones of dark coffee. Sweet toasted oats. Hints of caramel and chocolates. Slight touch of smoke. Nice sweet finish, yet not overdone. Good medium body. Good level of creaminess. A bit light for the stout style, but still very good. As far as a good tasting, reasonably priced, session stout, you’d have a hard time topping this one. You could drink these all night long.

A good all around stout. Aroma was good -chocolate, roasty. Color was beautiful ruby red black clear. Appearance somewhat with a minimal head. Taste even keeled between sweet and bitter. Chocolate the dominant flavor. Soft mouthfeel but not smooth. Not a heavy or light beer - medium bodied. I could make this a regular stout to drink, I only wish the head was more pronounced.
