On tap at the Las Vegas brewpub. Golden with a bit of haze. Lightly hopped with Saaz hops apparent. There is a dry bitterness from those hops along with light spices. Quite dry.

This one poured a golden yellow color with a big white head. Aroma was corny and grassy. Flavor was pale lager with hints of bittering hops. Typical for the style but not too great.

Sampled on draft at the Virginia Beach location. Pours a clear amber color with a medium head. Decent head retention and lacing. Fairly bitter and grassy hop aroma. Taste is very similar but with a bit of an alcohol/medicinal note. Thin bodied.

From the tap poured a clear golden pour with a fair amount of head. Nice grainy flavor with a quick finish.

Thought this was decent and better than the Schwarzbier I had before it. A golden straw color with some nice head and a brilliant body. Aroma is very Saazy. Flavor is full-bodied, with some straw-like maltiness, and a good amount of Saaz hop character. There is also a metallic note that is distinctly off. To me, Pilsner Urquell is the quintessential Czech Pilsner (Czechvar is OK and Burgerbrau is garbage), and this is a decent clone. Not bad. The Gordon Biersch beer menu doesn’t offer much excitement; in my opinion this is about the best you’re going to get.

Clear golden/amber under a wisp of white. By now I’m guessing that this is GB’s signature aroma of roasty malts. There is not much of a hop character in the nose which is disappointing. Saaz finally appear in the flavor, but instead of dominating they share the bill with quite forward roasted malts. If I were rating to style this would surely fare a lower "overall" number but I kind of enjoyed it. ~~~~~~~~~ Draught, GB Bolingbrook, IL.
