| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 6, 2009 From the tap poured a clear golden pour with a fair amount of head. Nice grainy flavor with a quick finish. BeerBelcher (943), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Jul 3, 2009 Thought this was decent and better than the Schwarzbier I had before it. A golden straw color with some nice head and a brilliant body. Aroma is very Saazy. Flavor is full-bodied, with some straw-like maltiness, and a good amount of Saaz hop character. There is also a metallic note that is distinctly off. To me, Pilsner Urquell is the quintessential Czech Pilsner (Czechvar is OK and Burgerbrau is garbage), and this is a decent clone. Not bad.
The Gordon Biersch beer menu doesn’t offer much excitement; in my opinion this is about the best you’re going to get. frankenkitty (1903), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 22, 2009 Clear golden/amber under a wisp of white. By now I’m guessing that this is GB’s signature aroma of roasty malts. There is not much of a hop character in the nose which is disappointing. Saaz finally appear in the flavor, but instead of dominating they share the bill with quite forward roasted malts. If I were rating to style this would surely fare a lower "overall" number but I kind of enjoyed it. ~~~~~~~~~ Draught, GB Bolingbrook, IL.
