Commercial Description:
Dunkelweizen translates from German to mean dark wheat. Gordon Biersch Dunkelweizen highlights the undertones of dark roasted malted wheat and the unique flavors produced by our special Hefeweizen yeast strain. Our Dunkelweizen adheres to all of the traditions of the Reinheitsgebot (German Purity Law of 1516) and is naturally carbonated.

Bottle from Squires. Pours hazy brown with nose of banana, dark malt, clove, spice. Tastes malty, with banana, clove, spicy brown sugary, and caramel flavors. Solid balance and complexity but waters out a bit late.

Draft at Gordon Biersch at the SFO airport! Excellent on draft! Nose of banana, cloves, and bready yeast. Murky red-amber with a big off hwite glass lacing head, the color and murkiness looks like tomato juice was added, but not! Flavor is caramel, banana, and a tiny bit of hop bitterness. Good thing I walked around the terminal while I had to wait three hours even if it was a 7:30 AM breakfast beer.

The aroma has bananas, bubble gum, cloves, and wheat. The appearance hazy amber with a very large head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is thin. Overall a nicely done Dunkelweizen.

Draft @ Miami location. Pours cloudy caramel color with tan head. Aromas of caramel malt, wheat and clove. Sweet toasted malt flavor with some clove. Medium body with soft carbonation. The only decent beer I had at the brewpub today.

Brown body with thick head. Banana flavors, reminded me of runts, some marshmellows, great flavor overall. Aroma was tarter than the flavor, but I really liked the overall feel of this.

Draught, GB Miami
Milky looking rich chestnut body with a thick head. Banana and marshmallow aroma. Sort of tart, with some banana and hints of chocolate. Kind of funky/sour note is a little weird, but otherwise a std example.
