Commercial Description:
Dunkelweizen translates from German to mean dark wheat. Gordon Biersch Dunkelweizen highlights the undertones of dark roasted malted wheat and the unique flavors produced by our special Hefeweizen yeast strain. Our Dunkelweizen adheres to all of the traditions of the Reinheitsgebot (German Purity Law of 1516) and is naturally carbonated.

Miami. Dark brown, murky, with foamy tan head.Caramelized bananas predominate in the aromas. Like a banana sandwich on wheat bread. Thin and drinkable. Super sweet and cakey. Like a dessert, it’s actually not so bad.

Enjoyed on-tap at the Miami brewpub. A hefeweizen with lots more chocolate malt, nothing wrong with that. An above average mouthfeel with bananna consistency and taste. A good dunkel, good looking with lots of lace. Milkshake, though taste is on the sweet side and no complexity.

On tap at GB in Palo Alto. Decent stuff. The appearance is a little off-putting with more purple haze than an Amsterdam coffee shop. Brownish-purple overall, and yes, it’s hazy. Off-white head. Wheat, yeast, banana, clove, and malts on the aroma. Same on the taste, highly phenolic and pretty sweet with spices thrown in there (or so it seems - I know they claim this conforms to the Reinheitsgebot). Smooth palate and a sweet finish.

From a 12 oz bottle courtesy of bhensonb this poured a copper amber color with a medium off-white head and light lacing . Nose of wheat and some toasted malts. Medium mouthfeel . Flavor contains the wheat and caramel malts and some roasted touches. Finish is slightly sweet and this is very easy to drink./

Bottle. Sweet banana, orange, clove, and caramel malt aroma. Cloudy orange-brown color with moderate head. Sweet banana-orange, clove and light caramel wheat malt flavor. Very nice - above average dunkelweizen.

Poured a dark, copper, amber color with large foamy beige head. Smells of yeast, malts, spice and some kind of fruit. Tasted of wheat, yeast, roasted malts and a creamy sweetness... surprisingly good and refreshing with a great aftertaste. What a pleasant brew!

Has a great aroma of bananas and bread (not to be confused with the ever tasty Banana Bread) and had a very bready taste. It is pretty darn refreshing.

Can’t really complain about this one too much, it was actually pretty tastey! Pours a muddy copper colour with a small tan head. lacing is basically nothing, but mouthfeel is nice, bubbly and lively very pleasent. Aroma is of cherries and raspberries, milk chocolate and spice. Taste is creamy, fruity and everything nice. Apples, cinnamon and jerky.
