Commercial Description:
Once reserved for Bavarian royalty for its light sparkling quality, Hefeweizen is considerably more democratic today. In fact, at Gordon Biersch we've brewed a special batch of our Hefeweizen to serve our guests throughout July and August! Hundreds of years ago in Germany, wheat beers were considered "breakfast" or "after church" beers, a testament to their light refreshing flavor and a tradition of drinking them on weekend afternoon. We invite you to enjoy our Hefeweizen any day of the week this summer along with our special summer menu.

On tap at Taproom in Pacific Beach, San Diego, CA--Murky, deeply hazed honey mustard body with a thin blanketing white head. Rich banana-clove Bavarian-style hefe nose. Dry lemon-citrus nose (Served with a lemon, but not necessary). little thin yet tangy in the middle. Comes back in the end with clove and spice.

Served too cold. Cloudy pale orange with bubbly white head. Apple esters in the nose and flavor. Drinkable palate. Nothing spectacular.

Draft. Slightly cloudy golden body, small white head, sour nose. Quite wheaty, not much in the clove or banana department. Decent.

On tap @ North Star poured a cloudygold with a small lingering off white head. Aromas of wheat, yeast, light banana, light bubblegum and light clove. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of wheat, yeast, light banana and a hint of clove with a smooth finish.

Draught sample at New Orleans location. Light wheaty aroma with a faint hint of bubblegum and banana. Mild orange aroma. Hazy butterscotch in color with thin off-white head. Medium body with heavy carbonation. Starts with some wheaty character, light banana yeasty character. Not overly sweet. With higher carbonation, has more of an acid malt tang. Light chalky bitter after.

A very cloudy yellow body with a white head. The aroma was massive banana, total overkill, even for a hefe. There was also the clove and some sweet tropical mango. The taste had some strogn bananas along with some cloves in the finish. A decent amount of spice with some more mango character. A thick mouthfeel.
