Commercial Description:
Once reserved for Bavarian royalty for its light sparkling quality, Hefeweizen is considerably more democratic today. In fact, at Gordon Biersch we've brewed a special batch of our Hefeweizen to serve our guests throughout July and August! Hundreds of years ago in Germany, wheat beers were considered "breakfast" or "after church" beers, a testament to their light refreshing flavor and a tradition of drinking them on weekend afternoon. We invite you to enjoy our Hefeweizen any day of the week this summer along with our special summer menu.

Sampled at Food and Froth. I’m going to have to sample some more of this brewery’s beers. This was a nice Hefe; unfortunately it was about 5 degrees F and snowing, which put me in the mood for some nice high ABV dark beers. Nice refreshing beer though.

Draught at Dulles International Airport, Washington. Haxy yellow/orange color, creamy offwhite head. Sweetish banana aroma, some candy, some toffee. Banana flavor, some fruits, cream, citrus notes. Quite refreshing.

I’m not a Hefe fan and I like this beer. It’s a bit strong on the citrus notes but overall a strong hefe.

Draught. Surprisingly nice hefe. Very cloudy orange and yellow colour with a sticky white head. Lots of wheat and banana plus a little citrus in the aroma. Good hefe flavour with notes of more citrus and a little clove spice. Well done.

draft: hazy orangish gold. Aroma is wheaty, tart, clove, gum, banana, citrus. Medium bodied, better than the other beers I’ve had from the brewer.

Draft sampler at Columbs brewpub. Cloudy gold color, strong banana/clove aroma, flavor a much lighter version of the aroma, light bodied, light overall. Just a little bit better than most brewpub hefewiezens I’ve had--seems to be a style most brewpubs don’t do particularly well, or maybe I’ve just been to the wrong brewpubs.
