Commercial Description:
Once reserved for Bavarian royalty for its light sparkling quality, Hefeweizen is considerably more democratic today. In fact, at Gordon Biersch we've brewed a special batch of our Hefeweizen to serve our guests throughout July and August! Hundreds of years ago in Germany, wheat beers were considered "breakfast" or "after church" beers, a testament to their light refreshing flavor and a tradition of drinking them on weekend afternoon. We invite you to enjoy our Hefeweizen any day of the week this summer along with our special summer menu.

Draft, consumed at Gordon Biersch Pasadena on 12/03/07. Unfiltered. Light, cloudy head with good retention. Aroma of cloves. Proper hefe flavor: mild cloves, banana, maybe a little cinnamon. Slight spicy banana aftertaste. Delicious. This one’s a winner!

{draft @ New Orleans loc’n} Cloudy golden with a thick merangue head. Ripe banana, sweet clove/Christmas spiciness. Light, almost tart paalte full of banana and spices. Very refreshing.

Amber, Cloudy. Noticably spicy, though I can’t place the spices offhand. Makes for a nice complexity, and this keeps the interest nicely after five other beers.

On tap: The aroma is moderate banana and clove. It’s a hazy, bordering on cloudy, gold with a small white head. The flavor starts with lots of banana and bubblegum. There is a faint smokiness in the background. It finishes with moderate clove and a light lemony tartness. Light bodied with moderate carbonation.

A great hefeweizen when it’s fresh on tap. The aroma is crisp and tart. The flavor is light, refreshing, a little bit fruity, and a little bit tart.

On tap at the Hawaii Location. Poured a deeper and cloudy golden color with an averaged sized white head. Aromas of cloves, bananas, citrus, and I was getting some butteriness. Tastes of bananas, cloves and citrus.

Had this a while back. Other than the very large and somewhat green lemon wedge it was served with, it was a decent beverage. It didn’t really have a citrus/grapefruit presence I look for in a hefe. It was more darker malty than lighter fruity malt.
