Commercial Description:
Once reserved for Bavarian royalty for its light sparkling quality, Hefeweizen is considerably more democratic today. In fact, at Gordon Biersch we've brewed a special batch of our Hefeweizen to serve our guests throughout July and August! Hundreds of years ago in Germany, wheat beers were considered "breakfast" or "after church" beers, a testament to their light refreshing flavor and a tradition of drinking them on weekend afternoon. We invite you to enjoy our Hefeweizen any day of the week this summer along with our special summer menu.

Hazy golden color. Nice off-white head. Very standard Hefe flavors, with some bubblegum, banana, and a bit of lemon. Slight clove in the finish.

Had this one on draught as part of a sampler flight at the brewpub in Bollingbrook, Illinois. Cloudy, light yellow pour with a thick, persistant white head, lots of bananas and orange in the nose, milky mouthfeel and well balanced between citrusy, sweet and spicey. Quite good!

At the Virginia Beach location. Murky gold with a white head. Decent lace rings. Good nose - banana, clove, a bit of bubblegum and wheat. A bit thin, but not bad. Moderately sweet flavor, wheat and banana in the fore, with some clove and bubblegum. Finishes surprisingly clean, almost nothing to speak of. Not my favorite style, but pretty good.

Cloudy yellow color with a thick white head. Smell is wheaty, clove and spice with the same taste but not too overpowering with the clove spiced part, which i’m not too big on. Flavor is nicely balanced with wheat, bubblegum, banana and clove. Nicely flavorful. Good standard hefeweizen and well above average for the style. on tap at SF godon biersch.

It is fun to find a hefe on tap. This one is typically hazy and fairly routine but it is certainly refreshing. A decent try, certainly.
