Commercial Description:
Once reserved for Bavarian royalty for its light sparkling quality, Hefeweizen is considerably more democratic today. In fact, at Gordon Biersch we've brewed a special batch of our Hefeweizen to serve our guests throughout July and August! Hundreds of years ago in Germany, wheat beers were considered "breakfast" or "after church" beers, a testament to their light refreshing flavor and a tradition of drinking them on weekend afternoon. We invite you to enjoy our Hefeweizen any day of the week this summer along with our special summer menu.

(Tap) Pours a hazy yellow color with a nice white head and good lacing. Aroma of light fruits, light citrus, and grain. Taste includes wheat grain, clove and banana. Good mouthfeel as well. Although it doesn’t really compare to its German counterparts, it’s quite good for an American-made German hefeweizen.

Color is cloudy and yellow-brown, rather like honey; head is thick. Aroma has a strong citrus overtone and some wheaty scent. Taste is a very strong and pleasant hefeweizen taste, quite lemony with wheat and hoppy components. It goes down easily and is very pleasant to drink, with or without a wedge of lemon.

On tap at the San Jose location. This beer pours a hazy light straw color with a fuzzy white head. It has that banana clove aroma you’d expect. It is smooth and light bodied. The flavor is clean and quick, again with the banana clove and a bit of grain. A good hefeweizen.

Other than the aroma, this isn’t too bad of a hefe. Taste is thin and unispirational, but light and refreshing could also be used to describe it. Decent.

Draft at Pasadena location. My wife really likes this beer and that’s a good thing! This one pours of a typical Hefe coloring, blondish-amber. The nose is clove and banana. The flavor is clearly banana peel like. Very refreshing and easy to drink.

Tap: Nice pour, a cloudy golden amber body with a tall & frothy white head. It’s got a strong fresh banana aroma with a wee touch of cloves. The mouthfeel is very light and fluffy. It tastes strongly of bananas with a bit of soft wheat, a hint of spices, and a drop or two of lemon juice. Tasty and refreshing.

Pours a beautiful hazed yellow golden color w/ good residual lacing. Aroma is strong w/ leatered fruit spice. Medium nectar w/ ample residual effers. Big malty banana spice backbone w/ a touch of earth. The finish lingers w/ fruit nectar and has a mild bittering component.
