Commercial Description:
Once reserved for Bavarian royalty for its light sparkling quality, Hefeweizen is considerably more democratic today. In fact, at Gordon Biersch we've brewed a special batch of our Hefeweizen to serve our guests throughout July and August! Hundreds of years ago in Germany, wheat beers were considered "breakfast" or "after church" beers, a testament to their light refreshing flavor and a tradition of drinking them on weekend afternoon. We invite you to enjoy our Hefeweizen any day of the week this summer along with our special summer menu.

Tap at Virginia Beach location. Pours hazy orange. Light, and a nice foamy head. Aroma is spices and bananas. Body is pretty light, and has a nice pepper, clove, and banana.

Draft at the downtown DC location, served in a big weizen glass. Glowing orange juice appearance, looks thick and full of suspended yeast. Very nice fresh yeast and banana and wheat nose, lightly spicy. Syrupy a bit, decent texture, very fresh and lively, lightly peppery. Tried to find something to not like about this beer but it is a very good hefeweizen, at least on draft and when fresh.

Nice for a bottled heffe. Light hazy yellow, medium sized fluffy white head. Aroma has a great banana spice aroma. lighter than medium body, some spritzyness on the palate. This is refreshing.

A very nice hefeweizen. Had a nice pour and a great golden straw hue and a thin creamy head. The drink went down very smooth and had a unique flavor that lingered and was enjoyable. Highly recommended.

from Safeway. This tastes exactly the same as the Trader Joes Bavarian Hefe; Wonder if it is the same brew in a differerent bottle. Poured a nice gold color with a bit of haze and left a nice creamy head and nice liacing. Big nose of wheat and banana. Mouthfeel very nice, and flavors true to what a real German hefe tasted llke when I visited there last year. Nice example of the style. .

Golden with a small, fizzy, white head. Aroma wheat, banana, clove. Flavor light malty, with the same banana and wheat in the aroma; virtually no hop bitterness; relatively dry finish. Medium/medium-thin; lively carbonation. Unoffensive, unimpressive, and entirely forgettable.

Draft at Tempe, AZ brewpub. Cloudy light orange color with a thin white head. Smells and tastes of the banana and clove typical of the style. Light sweetness and acidity.
