Commercial Description:
Once reserved for Bavarian royalty for its light sparkling quality, Hefeweizen is considerably more democratic today. In fact, at Gordon Biersch we've brewed a special batch of our Hefeweizen to serve our guests throughout July and August! Hundreds of years ago in Germany, wheat beers were considered "breakfast" or "after church" beers, a testament to their light refreshing flavor and a tradition of drinking them on weekend afternoon. We invite you to enjoy our Hefeweizen any day of the week this summer along with our special summer menu.

I’m not a huge fan of their hefe. Its a little peppery for my liking. And its rather basic and boring. And is it just me, or do the majority of all hefes at american brewpubs taste the same?

Cloudy amber wiht a large, lasting head. Light clove aroma. Low on the banana esters, but strong wheat backbone. Relatively dry. Very solid hefe.

By far the strangest beer I have tried so far...On tap at GB Columbus. Very cloudy, gold color, little head...Taste is so unique. Like a liquid dessert. Bananas and cloves. This was good. Never what I would expect from a beer though...

On tap at the brewpub, pours a hazy pale orangish yellowish color with a thick creamy white head, decent retention. Very fragrant aroma of bananas, also some yeast/bread and bubblegum. Very good taste and very refreshing, especially when it’s cold. Full flavored of bananas and bubblegum. Creamy and smooth on the palate. As it warms, it actually loses a bit of flavor, so drink it when it’s cold. I think this is one of the best hefes I’ve had.

On-tap in at the Tempe AZ location. Big and orange. Very nice head. Glowing color. Pleasant aroma. (Tossed the lemon, as usual). Very refreshing palate. Nicely balanced.

Draught taster was cloudy, blonde mango color w/ thin off-white head. The aroma was sweet banana and mild hops. Flavor of sweet wheat and mild cardomon. Medium bodied, slightly syrupy and simple.

Bottle fron Big! Lots. Slightly hazy dark golden pour with traces of red. Strong bubblegum/banana aroma. Bittler and grainy up front with some sweet yeasty flavors following that up. Finish is slightly bitter.

Big clove and banana tastes. Don’t put a lemon in this one you fools, you don’t need it. Pair this one with some goat cheese and you are ready to go.
