Commercial Description:
Once reserved for Bavarian royalty for its light sparkling quality, Hefeweizen is considerably more democratic today. In fact, at Gordon Biersch we've brewed a special batch of our Hefeweizen to serve our guests throughout July and August! Hundreds of years ago in Germany, wheat beers were considered "breakfast" or "after church" beers, a testament to their light refreshing flavor and a tradition of drinking them on weekend afternoon. We invite you to enjoy our Hefeweizen any day of the week this summer along with our special summer menu.

Big clove and banana tastes. Don’t put a lemon in this one you fools, you don’t need it. Pair this one with some goat cheese and you are ready to go.

Clear, cold, esteric aroma with bubblegum and boiled peanuts. Medium hazy, muddy gold-orang. A bit vacant. Doughy, peppery on the back, sweetish. A clumsy mouthfeel that’s between water and pastey whey. Some biotic yeasty-cheesy flavors in the aspirin-bitter finish. Cresols - a doggy-cereal smell to the dry rim of the glass.

Strong aroma of banana and a bit of spice. Hazy gold color with very substantial head. Definitely starts with banana, but it’s quickly followed by clove. There may be a hint of hop in here, but the finish is like I just ate a banana. Oh, there’s a hint of yeast too, and maybe some lemon, but it’s banana. Quite tasty. More impact than many Hefes.

On tap. Pours hazy golden in colour with a small head. Sweet and sticky. Notes of banana and cloves. Slightly sour and has a weak hint of buttermilk.

On tap at Washington DC location. Poured a hazy. opaque golden straw color with a thick, pillowy white head which faded to a light coating. Classic, but somewhat faint, hefeweizen aromas of lemon zest, banana and wheat grain with a touch of clove. Palate was slightly thin and watery in the finish but was still very refreshing on this 100 degree day. Initial flavor is somewhat sweet reminiscent of a lemon drop candy, followed by some hints of banana, yeast, cloves and light wheat bread. Finish is clean and thirst quenching. Not a stand-out being a bit tame overall, but worth a sample on a hot day.

I was very impressed with this beer. I had it in a bottle, up in Big Sur California on vacation. It really blew me away, because it was unlike any beer i’d every had. The smell was fruity, with a bit of banana. The initial taste was very smooth and unforgetable, for me anyway. Full taste, yeast, cloves, banana , bubble gum. I thought it was great. Its a bit hard to find in Georgia, but when i do, Im buying a case!

Pale amber, very cloudy. Spicy aroma, cloves and floral. A heavy bodied, sour flavor. Taste like cantalope and cloves with wheat after taste. Tasted like I was licking one of those 1970’s Christmas ornaments mom made by poking cloves into an orange.
