Commercial Description:
Once reserved for Bavarian royalty for its light sparkling quality, Hefeweizen is considerably more democratic today. In fact, at Gordon Biersch we've brewed a special batch of our Hefeweizen to serve our guests throughout July and August! Hundreds of years ago in Germany, wheat beers were considered "breakfast" or "after church" beers, a testament to their light refreshing flavor and a tradition of drinking them on weekend afternoon. We invite you to enjoy our Hefeweizen any day of the week this summer along with our special summer menu.

Tap. Bubblegum and peach aroma. Cloudy amber color with moderate head. Sweet bubblegum and peach flavor - didn’t really get that much malt flavor. An okay Weizen but a bit too sweet and not enough malt for me.

This should be their signature beer. Better than the Marzen and a fine example of how a good hefe should look and taste. People want to rate this low because it’s not exotic enough, but I’ll be honest with you and say that this stuff is mighty tasty. Has the wonderful banana and clove scent, murky and goes down like a champ. If you put a lemon in my beer, I’ll smack you, so don’t even think about it. I’ve drank lots of this and was still able to drive home without getting any yard in my front grille. See, here’s the deal... just because the place is expensive and all over the place, doesn’t mean you have to rate the beer low. This is good stuff. Maybe some of you people with the notepads can swallow a little pride and admit that. Just kidding. I don’t care what you think.

Tap. I didn’t bother finishing it. Very watery. Poured just the way you would want a Hefe to. Very cloudy, perhaps a bit too cloudy. Not a great experience. left me quite bloated.

On tap at the San Diego location. Served in an authentic hefe glass. Had all the sights and smells of a good German hefe. Nice cloudy appearance and plenty of banana and clove in the aroma. Fruity, with a bit of spice in the taste. Very good hefe.

Draught at the brewpub in Las Vegas
Muddy blond color. Light aroma of wheat and banana. Dry mouthfeel, light citrus fruits, wheat, banana. Short final.

On tap at Gordon Biersch in downtown DC. Excellent golden color and lovely head, nice pour from the local bartender. Alcohol level well suited to style. A great thirst quencher as I was riding the bike that afternoon. Bonus points for the authentic glass made in the old country -- the artwork, however, was very American
