Commercial Description:
Once reserved for Bavarian royalty for its light sparkling quality, Hefeweizen is considerably more democratic today. In fact, at Gordon Biersch we've brewed a special batch of our Hefeweizen to serve our guests throughout July and August! Hundreds of years ago in Germany, wheat beers were considered "breakfast" or "after church" beers, a testament to their light refreshing flavor and a tradition of drinking them on weekend afternoon. We invite you to enjoy our Hefeweizen any day of the week this summer along with our special summer menu.

On tap at the San Francisco brewpub. Cloudy gold in appearance with a very thick white head. pillowy in fact. Great lacing. Lemony and banana ester aroma is verynice. Has a mild tartness and sweet banana fruity flavor. The bartender said that this was an ale ?!

On tap at Gordon Biersch in downtown DC. Excellent golden color and lovely head, nice pour from the local bartender. Alcohol level well suited to style. A great thirst quencher as I was riding the bike that afternoon. Bonus points for the authentic glass made in the old country -- the artwork, however, was very American

Tap. This is a Hefeweizen in the European style. Quite yeasty and full bodied. I really enjoyed this one. It pours a pale yellow with a nice head. Aromas of flower and bread and yeast. Flavors of wheat obviously and fruit.

The aroma has banana and bubblegum. The appearance is what a hefe typically is. The flavor is mild but enjoyable. There is wheat along with the elements from the aroma. Nice

Bright hazy gold, thick fluffy white head. Nose was pretty authentic with soft notes of bubblegum, clove, and banana, with light yeasty bready tones upon further warming. Nice flavor profile throughout with soft clove, citrus touches of banana, and a nutty wheaty earthiness. Light bodied, soft carbonation, crisp, wheat-like finish. A tasty, easy drinking hefe...

Tap at the DC restaurant. I was expecting the worst (due to experience with other US ’hefeweizen’). But I thought this was very similar to, but slightly better than Erdinger.

Draft at the brewpub in Columbus Ohio - Pours cloudy golden with a puffy white head that stays pretty well and laces some down the glass. Aroma was bubblegum, cloves, bannanas. Flavor is much of the same. No overpowering clove flavor. Just a nice blend of all good things that should be there in a hefe. Palate is light and airy and refreshing. Odd that this was the seasonal in January there but it was the best beer they had on tap for sure...
