Commercial Description:
Once reserved for Bavarian royalty for its light sparkling quality, Hefeweizen is considerably more democratic today. In fact, at Gordon Biersch we've brewed a special batch of our Hefeweizen to serve our guests throughout July and August! Hundreds of years ago in Germany, wheat beers were considered "breakfast" or "after church" beers, a testament to their light refreshing flavor and a tradition of drinking them on weekend afternoon. We invite you to enjoy our Hefeweizen any day of the week this summer along with our special summer menu.

On tap at the Las Vegas brewpub. Cloudy gold. Smallish white head. Clove and banana aroma with some bubble gum was very nice. Interest lacing. Feel was so smooth. Flavors of bananas, clove, floral notes, bubblegum. This was light and easy to drink. My favorite of their offerings.

Consistently effervescing thru a well-hazed, golden/amber body, topped with a staunch head which leaves a sudsy film and lace. Roasted grain aroma with low banana behind. The same translates to the flavor along with a lagered milkiness. Dry finish, full mouthfeel. I didn’t mind this, but my wife thought it was mediocre at best. ~~~~~~~~~ Draught, GB Bolingbrook, IL.

On tap at the Oakland airport pours a hazy murky yellow gold with an off-white head. Aroma of banana, plastic and vanilla. Flavor is banana, citrus and vanilla. Not bad. Water like, medium carbonation.

On tap at San Diego location. Color was a dark gold/amber. Aroma of must, banana, yeast; ok, but just a bit weird. Flavor was solid and sessionable, but like alot of their beers is a bit bland.

Sampler at Bolingbrook. The only ale on the taps here. Up-front clove and banana smell. Cloudy color of a darkened brass. Hefe spices in the first sip, with a faint note of bubble-gum and circus peanuts. Menu card here lists abv at 5.5%.

On tap at Power and Light District in Kansas City, served in a hefe glass. Cloudy golden color with a light aroma of cloves and fair amount of off-white head. Flavor dominated by banana, wheat, and yeast, in that order. Missing the familiar citrus twang of some hefeweizens. A nice beer for a warm summer day!
