Commercial Description:
Once reserved for Bavarian royalty for its light sparkling quality, Hefeweizen is considerably more democratic today. In fact, at Gordon Biersch we've brewed a special batch of our Hefeweizen to serve our guests throughout July and August! Hundreds of years ago in Germany, wheat beers were considered "breakfast" or "after church" beers, a testament to their light refreshing flavor and a tradition of drinking them on weekend afternoon. We invite you to enjoy our Hefeweizen any day of the week this summer along with our special summer menu.

I’m pretty sure this is the same as Trader Joes Bavarian Hefeweizen. Tastes pretty similar to me anyway, and I like ’em about as much, so see my review there.

Typical hefe pour. Aroma has hints of bananas and cloves. Flavor is bubblegum, banana, cloves, coriander and wheat. Not a bad hefe...would be good on a warm summer day, although the bubblegum may get old after awhile.

Draft @ Annapolis: Poured a cloudy yellow with a nice white head. The aroma was bananas and cloves, not strong scented. The flavor was smooth with bananas, clove, and slightly acidic. Overall, one of their better offerings.

On tap-Annapolis location-Cloudy golden color w/a moderate white head. Spiced wheat aroma. Good example of this style-wheat, spice, banana, all the standard Hefe flavors. Very smooth & easy to drink. Great summer outdoor brew, went well sitting @ the bar w/the large windows open overlooking the town center.

Hazy golden coloured body with a dense white head that lasts throughout. Nice wheatie, yeastie and overall lemony smell - not bad at all! Medium-bodied; Strong astringent malt up front with a lot of yeast and citrus flavours behind. Aftertaste shows a more mellow twang with some light sweetness and a very mellow wheat flavour - nice. Overall, a pretty good and plain unfiltered hef - definitely worth trying if you are here anyways, but probably not worth a trip on its own right - try somewhere else! I sampled this half litre on draught at the Washington [DC] location today on 26-March-2009.

Draft @ Miami location. Pours cloudy orange brown with off white head. Aromas of bananas, clove and phenols. Similar flavors. Medium body with moderate carbonation. It’s OK, but something doesn’t taste quite right.

Bottle from me. Damn, me, you are the best! Pours a nice, cloudy cheddar orange with an aroma of straw orange and a touch of clover. Flavor is watery orange juice with clover. Watery mouthfeel. Friggin’ gross.

12oz bottle. Hazy, dark yellow color with a quickly receding head. Aroma is sweet, some lemon and banana. Sweet banana flavor as well, no citruc acidity either, which I like. Very good hefe.
