Gorden Biersch on tap Reagan Airport Marzen. Amber clear modest head, malt aroma, dry modest taste the carbonic acid. Little lingering flavor. Apples and a hint only of hops.

Draught sample from New Orleans location. Nose is musty and grainy with a bit of malt caramel sweetness. Medium amber gold with thin off-white head. Medium body with medium-heavy carbonation. Dusty-musty grain. Very little sweetness to this one. Moldy nutty character that I don’t care for. Plastic-y light bitter after.

On tap at Tempe AZ location. Reddish brown with a little foamy white head. Not much aroma in this one other than a little malt. Not much taste either, sort of a boring beer. Sessionable swill for the masses.

Had this at the Sofitel in Redwood City, CA. It was something different from an Anchor Steam, which seems to be the only craft beer I can find in that town. A fairly nondescript Marzen. Malty, a bit of raisins, syruppy.

On tap at the GB in KC. The body was medium copper with a frothy off white head. The aroma was like a dank cellar with some bread crust. The taste was toffee with a little bit of iced tea. There is also some pear character. Served a little too cold.

Reddish orange color, small head that disappeared on me. No strong aromas came through - some malt and nuts. Flavors were a little more distinct - a nice balance of malts and hops allowed caramels and nuttiness to come through. Light to medium bodied with decent carbonation. An enjoyable beer and very drinkable, but GB does much better than this.

Draught at Dulles International Airport, Washington. Pale amber color, small offwhite head. Fruity, malty aroma, some berries, cherry notes and a bit sweetish. Fruity flavor, berries, rather nice grassy hops, some spices and with candy notes. Smooth malty finish.

this beer is EVERYWHERE in northern california and I do try to buy some from time to time at parties in order to patronize a local brewer and most normal people think it’s a pretty solid beer. but it’s nothing special and its difficult to distinguish different tastes.
