Ok bought in the 12 oz brown bottle "auburn lager". In appearance this is a rather handsome auburn brown as stated on the label..nice sized white frothy head..leaves a nice lace. Smell is pretty nondesript and subdued..some faint malt and a littlehops. mmm not a bad tasting beer really..nice malty profile, with a wee hop bite at the end. It's pretty much average on the palate..not bad. A quite drinkable beer, its a nicely done marzen but far from the best of this class. I would think that this would be a good beer for a Killians Red drinker..to discover micros

Sampled on tap at the brewery in San Jose.
A clear ruby color topped by a thin tan head. The aroma is hoppy and dry. This is a nice clean lager. Has a good malt backbone, which mixes with a slight spiciness from the hops. Finishes with a nice bitterness. This is a solid Märzen (very good example of this style).

I was never impressed by this beer. Deemed by many uneducated drinkers to be THE beer drinker's beer. I reply to this by spraying some stone ipa in their face and watch the hops burn their tasteless skin off..burn, gordon biersch worshippers, burn.

A light tasting Marzen. Light carmalization aroma. I suppose taking into account the brewers location,San Jose, and its climate, mild, that this would satisify the locals. However being from the midwest this lacks the depth I associate with an Oktoberfest.

This is a nice refreshing beer. Good for a hot summer day. The malt and hop flavors were refreshing, although subtle. It seems a little on the light side.

Light appearance. It's a much nicer beer when it is fresh. Decent hop and malt balance with a crisp finish. Very refreshing.

Amber-colored and malty, but what hit me most was the yeast. Nothing memorable.

good malty flavor, hops balance nicely. I've seen experts rate this beer in the top 500 in the world. It's not that good but it's nice.
