One of my least favorite of the sampler. Dark looking and boring tasting would sum up my opinion of this beer.

On tap at GB Old Town Pasadena. Pours a clear black obsidian with a very thin tan head. Nutty aroma with chocolate, toffee, vanilla and citrus notes. Strong coffee flavor with a slightly roasted malt backbone and floral, herbal hops. Thin mouthfeel. Crisp finish with some caramel and vanilla sweetness. This just missed the boat along the way because it could be a very good beer.

On tap at the Virginia Beach location. Dark mahogany with a tan head. Sweet malt nose, a roasty, almost burnt quality, light chocolate and faint coffee. Slightly sweet flavor, roasty malt, a touch of charcoal, light coffee. Body on the light side of medium. Rather pleasant with my meal.
