TAP (Kansas City location): clear dark amber pour, thin body, with a mild roasted coffee taste. Pretty decent.

On draft at the Miami location. Clear medium brown with semi reddish highlights and thin ring of off white head. Nose is attempting for roasty but just comes off as plastic and sickly sweet with horrible nail polish. The flavor is just as bad, like licking a dog turd. Can’t really even describe how bad this is. There is a roasty finish though...

500 ml draft at the downtown Kansas City location. Pour is clear ruby brown and black, with an ever so slight haze. One inch off white head falls fast. Decent lacing. Aroma of nutty roasty malt, some mild sweetness, light diacetyl. Taste is dusty and dirty roast nut malt, bright earth hop. Palate is thin, medium carbonation. Drinkable, though watery enough to dilute malt character. Just OK.

On tap at Gordon Biersch in Las Vegas. Pours a dark brown to black with a thin tan head. Nice light smoke and caramel, roast. Medium bodied, nice thick malt with a good roast component. Light coffee and roast notes on the finish. Well done.

On tap at the Pizza Port Session Ale Fest. Pours with a hazy deep brown body and a generous khaki head. Aroma of leather, cocoa, and coffee. Taste is light coffee, leather, earthy malts, and a bit lactic. Light bubbles, dry mouthfeel.

On tap at Pizza Port San Clemente’s Session Ale fest 2009, this is a bit roasty and somewhat of a milky taste.

On tap at Gordon Biersch in Virginia Beach. Dark brown pour, almost black, with a fizzy off-whie head. Mostly lemon and orange citrus aromas with a faint detection of bubblegum. Good wheat flavor but very much lacking in the dark roastiness I’ve come to like and expect from this style. Decent.
