| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Aug 15, 2009 On tap at Gordon Biersch in Virginia Beach. Dark brown pour, almost black, with a fizzy off-whie head. Mostly lemon and orange citrus aromas with a faint detection of bubblegum. Good wheat flavor but very much lacking in the dark roastiness I’ve come to like and expect from this style. Decent. Strykzone (1497), Wood River, Illinois, USA

It was quite dark with lots of red highlights. A small almost white head. Very nice richly malted flavor is roasted. Some light smoke. Their boldest beer and one of their better ones. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 3, 2009 This beer is pretty boring, which I guess is a fit with the style (I find Schwarzbiers to be pretty unexciting), but this one registers with me overall as just sort of OK. Dark, not too roasty, inoffensive. Dry? Yes. I just can’t say much about this beer - there is not much here to describe, but there is certainly nothing off or offensive either. I don’t know whether to recommend or not...I am stumped.
