Location: We have a bunch of these in the metro DC area, I think I’ve prob been to 3 of them, including the one in "Downtown Rockville" that I visit pretty often, I’ve had this one on tap there

Overall Impression: It’s an interesting beer to me, depends on my mood how much I like this one. It is successful at being a Schwartz, but it’s pretty thin even for the style, some decent flavors sometimes, but sometimes it strikes me as a bore...We’ll split the difference here.

Had more than a few pints of this at a recent dinner at the DC location. Looks like a stout, opaque black, soft white head. Aroma of toast, nuts, some dark fruits. Flavor was malty, nutty, toast, breads. Crisp, clean finish. Good session beer.

Nice and dark. Big head, smooth all the way down. Hints of coffee...? Would get this one again.

Draft @ Annapolis: Poured a black color with a tan head. The aroma was smoked malts and nuts. The flavor was smooth, well balanced, smoke, sweet malts, nuts, and a hint of jerky. Overall, my favorite at this place and starting to be a favorite style of mine as well.

On tap-Annapolis location-Poured black w/a tan, carbonated head. Sweet roasted aroma. Flavors of roasted malt, nuts, a little caramel; had a lot of carbonation to it. This is not one of my favorite styles, I just find them to be too muddled-I prefer more traditional dark beers like a porter or stout, but this was a good beer for this style.

Pours from the tap to an old motor oil black (expected of a Schwarzbier), with a thick foamy tan head that lingers well thru the entire drink and leaves decent lacing. The nose, while somewhat muted, is licorice and a hint of roasted nuts. Mouth is very tingly, albeit a tad weak, with the taste again leaning toward licorice. Finish is of medium duration and a little watery, but overall a pretty decent beer.
